Ellis McCarthy Reverses Field; It's UCLA
(Monrovia) Monrovia’s Ellis McCarthy, who committed to California Saturday January 7 at the U.S. Army All American Bowl, has changed his mind and has now given a verbal commitment to UCLA sources say.
Tosh Lupoi’s decision to leave California for Washington played a big part in McCarthy’s decision. Lupoi was the defensive line coach at Cal.
McCarthy, a defensive tackle who stands 6’5” and tips the scales at over 300 pounds, was also considering USC and Oregon. He agreed to become a Bruin Monday evening.
McCarthy has helped the Wildcats to back to back Mid Valley Division CIF titles. Signing day is February 1.
