"Better than meeting a Beatle". Vin Scully & Amanda Backus.

Kick it!

So on Easter Sunday former Temple City HC Randy Backus is in San Diego getting into an elevator with his daughter before heading over to see the Dodgers and Padres play.

The doors slide open……and Vin Scully steps into the elevator.

The MID: “What was it like Coach?”

Backus: “Better than meeting a Beatle.”

There are very few athletes I could watch all night and then, when their career is over, listen to them all night. Reggie Miller fits both.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we are not supposed to root for teams but it’s easy to root for hard work. I’m not sure how 2012 is going to turn out for the Nogales football team, but something (like South Pas) is brewing. Nobles left tackle Freddy Navarro is a legitimate “Bad Dude”…Keep an eye on Sebastian Hernandez team.

What do you know, the L.A. Kings lost last night…

Somebody tell me what’s up with former Amat Lancer Wallace Gonzalez?

I would prefer an expansion team in Los Angeles, but I’ll take the Jaguars, and if I can’t get the Jaguars I’ll take the Vikings. They just have to leave their history, colors, and name in Minnesota…other than that, I’ll take them. The last time we got a team from Minnesota it worked out pretty good.

Last Add Football in L.A.: Oh, yeah the games better be played in the City of Industry. Farmers Field is the worst idea since light rail.

There’s only one thing that would get me to go to Yuma, Arizona…

I’m happy with Dee Gordon at shortstop, I hope Dee Gordon stays at shortstop, but is everybody connected with the Dodgers happy with Dee Gordon at shortstop right now?

The NBA season needs to stop at 62…

Note From Insider: “Temple City is not running the double-wing, but the Georgia Tech Option offense.”

Just off the top of my head, but do you think San Gabriel-San Dimas (September 7, at Citrus(?)) is going to have any special meaning?

Speaking of openers, La Mirada should be a factor in the well preserved Southeast Division but I don’t know if I would want to open up the season with St. Paul.

If a six-foot-four quarterback showed up in an Arroyo uniform, with a rocket arm, big brains, and a Rivera-like worth ethic what would the reaction be?

(Other than OC MacMillan doing the Macarana at midfield)

“With Dimalante out at Arcadia the Pacific is wide open. Torosian you should take that league title bet with the Devil. Cox might be enough to get Pasadena to the top in a weak Pacific this fall.”Stanzied, posted on “The TEN” is yesterday.

It does sort of make you think about the Pacific…Crescenta Valley?

Note to Rosemead HC Marc Paramo: Peterson and I both picked the Panthers to finish fourth this year in the Mission Valley League. Former Mead HC Matt Koffler always feigned anger when we picked against his team, but really loved it. You, don’t have to feign anger, you can be angry for real.

Last Add Paramo: But if this motivates your team to an exceptional season can you drop a check in the mail to Mid Valley Sports or at least a gift card to Red Lobster? Couldn’t pry Koffler’s wallet open with a crowbar. Thank you.

The Dude abides…
