Mid Valley Sports: All Southeast Division Football Team 2012

***Having problems at the moment loading pics. Bare with us***

(We’ve said it before. No second team, no third team, and we don’t make someone an MVP to move them up and then slide someone else into their position. Lot of debate. In the end we realize we’ve made a couple of people happy and a whole host of others very angry. Our choices, we stand by them.)

OFFENSE

Quarterback:

Frankie Palmer—La Serna

(Debate centered here around Downey’s Jorge Reyna and La Mirada’s Gerry Myres, but Palmer carried the votes.)

Running Backs:

Justin Huff—Downey

Rashaad Penny—Norwalk

Reggie Turner—Bonita

(CIF named five running backs—along with five quarterbacks—to its team. We could only find room for three. Bellflower’s Ryan Hunley, Rowland’s Avery Duffus, and James Williams of Burbank received consideration.)

Wide Receivers:

Dallas Shipp—La Mirada

(There was only one wide receiver in this division worthy of being named to this team. Kanya Bell (Diamond Bar) and Mike Davis (Glendale) had their names come up. Shipp was the only one to take the spot.)

Offensive Line:

(The nature of the Southeast is to run the ball, and then run it some more. It is loaded with offensive linemen, espeically tackles. So when we decided to go with one receiver, we added a third tackle “quick tackle” to help with some pulling and blocking. You might call it a reach, but every one of the players below are listed in their proper 2012 position.  Paramount’s LT Chris Borrayo is not listed below, we couldn’t find a spot for him.)

Left Tackle:

Mark Kozaya—Downey

Left Guard:

Isaiah Osorio—La Serna

Center:

Addison Farmer—Muir

Right Guard:

Ryan Contri—Bonita

Right Tackle:

Isheiko Mclaine–Norwalk

Quick Tackle:

Hugo Correa—La Mirada

Kicker:

Brandt Davis—Bonita

(Honestly, it seem like this guy has been kicking for the Bearcats since the turn of the century.)

DEFENSE

Defensive End:

Adam Romero—West Covina

Defensive Tackle:

Steven Kim—Burbank

(If you don’t know who this guy is, you should. If you play football, you need to have his motor.)

Defensive End:

Christian McQueen—Bonita

Outside Linebacker:

Tyler Luatua—La Mirada

Inside Linebacker:

Robert Salazar—Downey

(Jack Williams’ “coach on the field”)

Inside Linebacker:

Koa Kaleopaa—La Mirada

Outside Linebacker:

Luis Camacho—La Serna

Cornerback:

Muleck Henderson—West Covina

Elvis Toscano—Santa Fe

Strong Safety:

Tristan Esparza—Downey

(This guy, actually got “Player of the Year” votes)

Free Safety:

Billy Thomas—Mayfair

(It was not a great year for the Monsoons, but BT is special.)

Punter:

Eric Amezquita—California

Return Specialist:

Marcos Estaurdo—Los Altos

(They should just call this guy “Lights Out”)

Patrick Perrigue Award (Utility)

Malcom McAllister—Norwalk

(All MVS at anything you want to name. Great player, excellent with the ball…marvelous at destroying the ballcarrier.)
