The Mission Valley League has added its first new member since Gabrielino joined in the late 1990s. Pasadena Marshall, coached by Jim Arellanes will come aboard in the fall of 2014.

On the other end Crescenta Valley’s bid to join the Rio Hondo League was denied. Since the Arcadia proposal was tied to CV joining the RHL, Arcadia will now remain in the Pacific League along with the Falcons.

Latest word is the Mission Valley League will appeal the decision. The Rio Hondo and Pacific Leagues stay intact.

“Not concerned with what happens outside my control,” said Rosemead HC Marc Paramo. “League games are scheduled and I play them. Aside from football, Jim Arellanes is a great friend of mine, so it will be nice to have a great guy and a great coach added to the league. That being said, I still want to beat him.”

The expectation is the appeal by the MVL will be denied.

Marshall becomes the third team of seven in the MVL to have the mascot name “Eagles”.

“I’m excited,” said Arellanes. “Our administration did a great job and hopefully we can get to the level where we are competitive in the Mission Valley. Looking forward to the change and the challenge. It’s gonna be great not having to travel to Lancaster and Calabasas.”

“No matter who we play in our league or pre-season our objectives stay the same; coach our players up and prepare them to win,” said South El Monte HC Ibis Aguilar. “With that being said a seventh team in our league will force MVL teams to play zero week and take a bye week during league play. That will be an adjustment for everyone.”

“&*@#&%!!!” Said Arroyo’s Jim Singiser… 🙂
