Mid Spotlight: Joey Harmon

WEST CO THROW 7-9-13 016

Arcadia QB Joey Harmon

Joey Harmon: Arcadia QB, #14, 6-2, 190

2011 Stats (with South Pasadena) 63-128-969 yards, 6 TD, 3 Int

Harmon missed all of last year with an ACL injury but he is poised and ready to come back for his first season in an Apache uniform. As a sophomore he had a big year for South Pasadena throwing for nearly 1000 yards in 2011 before transferring to Arcadia last summer. Harmon has the size, 6-2, and the arm strength to put up some big numbers and make things happen. Arcadia has some athletes in the skill positions that should help Harmon succeed.

The Apaches had to wait a year for Harmon and finished just 4-7 in 2012  although they did manage to sneak into the playoffs. They are hoping the wait will be worth it in 2013. In the tough Pacific, Arcadia will be relying heavily on Harmon to lead them into the post season and beyond.

“I’m going to have a lot of fun calling plays with this guy under center. His football IQ is remarkable,” said Arcadia OC Eric Elias. “He knows exactly what I’m going to tell him before I tell him. I promise this kid will shine in the fall.”

Elias likes to compare Harmon to another former Arcadia quarterback. “Joey, like Myles Carr, makes life as an OC easy. He’s smart, respectful and talented. That was just bad luck last August when he was injured,” Elias added. “Joey doesn’t just work Monday through Friday, he works Saturday and Sunday as well. He wants to be great.”
