1.) The San Antonio Spurs defeat the Miami Heat 110-95 in Game 1 of the 2014 NBA Finals. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

2.) Happy Birthday to former Arroyo quarterback Dominic Salmon who turns 26 today.

3.) During Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the air conditioning in the AT&T Center broke down and resulted in 90-degree conditions on the court.

4.) With the 22nd pick of the MLB Draft, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected right-hander Grant Holmes out of Conway (S.C.) High School. Holmes pitches a fastball in the mid-90s and a power curve that Dodgers vice president of amateur scouting Logan White says is “the best breaking ball I saw in the country.”

5.) Jamie Bestwick wins his ninth consecutive gold medal in BMX Vert on the opening night of X Games Austin.

6.) On this day in 1946, the NBA was founded at the Commodore Hotel in New York. Maurice Podoloff was the league’s first commissioner.

7.) Minnesota Timberwolves team president Flip Saunders agrees to become the team’s head coach next reason.

8.) On this day in 1979, the Dodgers selected Orel Hershiser in the 17th round of the MLB Draft.

9.) Los Angeles Kings owner Philip Anschutz is considering selling the team after this season.

10.) LeBron James leaves Game 1 of the NBA Finals late in the fourth quarter due to cramps: “My muscles spasmed 10 out of 10. The best thing for me to do was not move,” he told a reporter after the game.
