Now we really didn’t think USC would beat Alabama, did we? If USC fans took a step back and looked at it realistically it was just too much to ask.

However, I did expect them to compete. Alabama beats UC Davis 52-6, not USC. The Crimson Tide rolls over Prairie View A&M by 46 points not the University of Southern California.

The Trojans made one thing perfectly clear Saturday night. They aren’t ready for the big time. They aren’t ready for a power like Alabama. After that performance you have to wonder if they’re ready for the PAC 12.

Joe T.'s High School football novel is available through Amazon.com “A literary snapshot of what goes on over the course of a high school football season…an awesome read and a story that truly will transcend time.”—Jim Singiser, AD/HC Arroyo Knights Football “Thrill, dread, anxiety, love, agony, success, and failure; basically all the emotions you feel as a football player/coach as you do in life, all wrapped up in a single book.”—Marc Paramo, HC Rosemead Panthers Football “I read the book and really enjoyed it a great deal. I would think coaches and parents could Learn a lot.”—John “Coach” Kentera, former sports talk host at Mighty 690 & Mighty 1090

On the bright side, if the Trojans, don’t throw a pick six, muff a snap on a punt attempt, blitz a safety and a corner on the same side leading to an easy score, blow several defensive assignments, and lose their cool leading to a critical unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, they’re right in the hunt.

I’m sure the Tide won’t want to schedule USC in future seasons, only because they want tougher competition.

And what’s with all the failed USC head coaches ending up on Alabama’s staff? The latest news has Steve Sarkisian all set to join the Crimson Tide. So can we expect to see Clay Helton as the DC next year standing next to Nick Saban?

Josh Rosen threw three picks in UCLA’s loss to Texas A&M Saturday but one wasn’t his fault. Two were though and at some point don’t the Bruin faithful hope that somebody referred to as “The Chosen One” plays like he was “chosen” to be the Bruins quarterback? Good job by Rosen in rallying the troops in the fourth quarter but some of his decisions late were very questionable.

There has to be concern in M-Town. The Wildcats are 0-2 against two teams that were very winnable games. When you get outscored 70-7 the opponents should be named St. John Bosco and Mater Dei not Burbank and La Salle. If the Lancers dropped 37 on the Cats what is an explosive team like Arcadia going to do this Friday night? The Apaches put up 51 last week on Bell Gardens.

Tough one last night,” said Monrovia assistant Jacob Ochoa on Saturday. “We are just not competing like we should be. We haven’t scored a point on offense. Burbank and La Salle were both senior teams with more talent. Our inexperience is really showing right now. We have conflicting reports on Richie (Schroeder, the quarterback who was hurt last week.) One says he will be back this week and another next week. So we’ll see. Good news is we aren’t eliminated from a league championship or the playoffs so we just have to adjust and keep getting better.”

Charter Oak’s 63-10 rout of Colony makes Northview feel a little better.

San Dimas’ Jarell Sykes runs, catches and leaps over Minutemen in a single bound.

Based on the comments on our boards, Montebello and Schurr has become the most heated rivalry in the area. Circle Friday October 14 on your calendar. Somebody is going to get flipped.

That’s my principle.
