Fred Lynn was 1975 and Jerry were special athletes that El Monte doesn’t have anymore. Time have change you have a toxic environment for sports at your school and it all starts with your principal.

lol what a sad person airstrack is. You might want to check your facts kids from El Monte area have gone on to wonderful things in sports. We have a kid in the MLB hall of fame. Fred Lynn. Multiple kids have gone to D1 D2 programs. We have an Olympic medalist in Joesph Diaz an Olympic archer multiple gold medal swimmers dozens of pro soccer players two are the MLS right now. I’d say El Monte Athletes are some of the toughest kids you’ll ever find.

What lies man? Everything I’ve ever said is fact brother! A lie is something untrue, for example Bryce Young is a product of Danny footballs team penny! That’s s lie. A truth would be Kam was kicked out of Cathedral after he’d served his purpose shortly after football season. Or Cathedral has won as championships as Danny footballs TC teams…. ZERO!!!!! That’s true!
    Pierson man handles kids=fact
    Cathedral cupcake schedule=fact
    Cathedral CIF rings = 0 = fact
Cathedral broomstick gate = shady but true

    Only promised a great education???
That’s why they left their schools during their senior year? Lol omg stop it already! Lopez was promised a division 1 scholarship Kam was promised a Division 1 scholarship! Well there’s only one ball and only 1 back on the field so someone was lied too, turns out both were lied too! Kam was kicked out of school shortly after football season. Coincidence? Probably not! …. so much for that GREAT education ay!

You are right, they did. Salesian had more on field talent and despite the 3 LM TD’s called back and the 16 penalties that were called, Salesian barely won that game. But with the talent they’ve had over the years…probably more than Cathedral they did absolutely nothing with that talent.

You had a coach who was working his butt off to get kids to play on saturdays but you guys just kicked him to the curve . He was working hard to get those kids looked at.

  14. March 9, 2017 - 8:35 pm | Permalink

From what I hear Andrew Tovar wanted nothing to with this recruiting service by this phony bologna coach D.H so he opted to his own recruiting.

  15. March 9, 2017 - 8:33 pm | Permalink

I know Herrera very good kid hard working but let’s be honest here… he’s 5’9 170 pounds. Comparing Him to Tovar is a bit unfair. Still even that being said if Tovar had no future in college still doesn’t excuse those clowns at Cathedral for railroading the kid the way they did. The stories keep mounting Kam, Lopez, Tovar all three of those kids were promised D1 rides lol and now they’re kids just tossed aside for these greedy phonies to pound their chests!

It is very easy to sit behind a keyboard and quote these “facts”. Please do your homework before you spit your venom. Let’s keep it real, Armando Herrera of Redlands East Valley has near identical numbers to Tovar with a CIF championship and not a single offer. Andrew Tovar had several small school offers. He has chosen to pass on those and opt for a Preferred Walk On with a Pac 12 program. God Willing he will earn a scholarship. Although some of you act like you already know it all, this is not an easy opportunity. Preferred Walk ons are not just handed out to everybody and this is an accomplishment in itself. Instead of all the hate and negativity, let’s celebrate their victories.

The problem is these kids play on these 7 on 7 teams and show up to their high school team with their own agenda, they become uncoachable individuals who rather listen to their 7 on 7 coach who is going to get them a D-1 ride. 90% of the kids on the 7 on 7 teams don’t even get offers. #teamdime #ourfamilyvsyourfacility

  19. March 9, 2017 - 3:05 pm | Permalink

Another reason I’ve been hoping for a guy like Mike Mooney to come to EM. Because he knows how to get kids to play on Saturdays.

  20. March 9, 2017 - 3:03 pm | Permalink

I get your takes about 7 on 7 being ridiculous. But if I had a son who was playing at s high level id sign him up for one of those teams. There’s a reason they exist. The head coaches today do not help kids get into college there’s too much on their plate these days. Besides some of them are simply clueless.

7 on 7 exercises are one of the best ways to measure a teams future abilities and weaknesses without pads.. Do you look fast. slow, strong, weak, big, small, smart dumb. Can you pass, catch, defend. Can you keep self motivated or do you get down quickly. Are you a leader on the field. Do you accept coaching.? A ton of intangibles can be identified without pads if you know where to look and helps a coach identify what to work on. Silly to say as many have that 7 on 7 does not matter.

Maybe because his senior year was railroaded by a couple of the shadiest individuals walking the sidelines. Cathedral has a few D1 qbs and Tovar has all the passing records what does that tell you? Kids a baller! His coaches saw it more important to appease a freshman than ride with their senior leader

Andrew Tovar will continue to play Football in Colorado. Cathedral has nothing to do with this topic. Annonymous you continue this season to bash Cathedral again. I think you are getting real old fast. The Phantoms with Bryce went to Las Vegas this past weekend and came in second place 7 on 7.They beat The Number 1 Team in the nation and beat 5 other Nationally Ranked Teams.

Huh? @anonymous, if Tovar is that good like you suggest, why doesn’t he have a single offer as you say? Could all the D1, D2, NAIA, and D3 be all wrong?

  29. March 8, 2017 - 5:19 pm | Permalink

Cathedral has recruiting coordinators as well. This is the way of the business that is high school football. It’s almost the norm. Bosco Mater dei started this pay for play deal other schools are following suit. They hate to admit it because it causes problems. For example… Andrew Tovar at Cathedral 2 time league MVP and current holder of every passing record cathedral has paid his tuition Bryce Young pays not a single cent to the school and that deal was reached before he had ever thrown a pass for the phantoms. Fair unfair you call it. Not to mention Andrew Tovar still has not garnered an offer to continue playing football. One of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard of. Pierson, Danny and the rest of you fellas great looking out for the kid. Pure class buddy! How these guys continue to pull in kids is beyond me

Wasn’t Richard Avina the OC at St. Paul? Will this move hurt his feelings again and caused him to take a one year hiatus back to La Mirada just like after Asante was hired? Why did St. Paul fired Asante? What has Zepeda done now in his fifth season? How many African- American players are currently on the football team? Isn’t St. Paul better known for it’s girls programs, basketball and softball? Is anyone else surprised St. Paul still plays football?

St. Paul is a private. Privates are not about community and pride anymore but all about winning at all costs. Ironically they have sold their souls to the devil. They recruit, cajole, wheel and deal and promise like a guy running for mayor to get players. Schools that live on transfers may win but they sacrifice the neighborhood feel of the high school program. From Valley Christian to St John Bosco they win but few from the community go and watch their games during the season. Maybe because their studs are kids they know nothing about. IMO. Gimmie an ER-Montebello game any time.

The Swordsmen need to ask Asante back, this time as stadium seating coordinator, to ensure the peaceful co-mingling of the various racial factions at St. Paul home games. The mere presence of this man, with his three-piece suits and genteel manners will instill the message that we’re all the same in this world, excepting of course in the amount of tuition paid by the recruits.
