(San Gabriel) – Kevin Encinas has been hired as the new head coach at San Gabriel according to multiple sources and eightlaces.org.
Encinas, who played in high school at Charter Oak, was most recently an assistant coach at Glendora.
Encinas takes over for Joe Ledesma who was let go after three years. The Matadors went 7-23 in the three years under Ledesma and were 3-7 overall last year.
The Stork arrived at Rosemead high school anf delivered to the freshman football orginization 27 conditioned players that have the school in an uproar after coaches were heard saying : “We can’t tire these guys out”…possible Dynasty being created here..!!
This is a good place for under appreciated back up QB’s and other 2nd stringers to go and make a name for themselves. Should be no protests for transfering to SG.
We’re living in times of fantastic expectations, like Donald’s promise to “make America great again.” Most of us understand this is just political hot air, but there IS something we can do in our own neighborhoods to make our part of the nation great again: support San Gabriel football. Join coach Encinas by donating whatever you can (plus 30% extra for the school’s cut). Funds will be used in a positive manner, for instance, in the building of a wall around the city to keep players from leaving. If you find yourself strapped for dough, Kevin will let you demonstrate your loyalty by doing yard work at his house. Be a part of something great: get behind Matador football.
I’m with you , nwo if any one gets a schedule of sg home game post it up please
Former Matadors. If you care about your program, show some support for the new era. The Almont could use a shake up.
Hey with all the Tittle IX sanctions at Alhambra Unified School Districts, does San Gabriel have to sell 30% of those boys going out for football and give them to the Girls Volleyball team? Or do they only take cash, food and prizes.
SG looks like they have 60 kids strong V and JV. 35 showed up for freshman.
Should be fun
No! No! Waiting for board approval.
Finally. Best of luck.
@peterson,
Have u thought about an interview I think even if ur not a fan of the team, many would like to hear what was his impression , talent? Future? Challenges with the timing of hire as well as other things that can give us the reader an insight on what it’s like to be a coach at a lower level program that has lost its tradition thanks for reading my suggestion
Will be hard to field a competitive team so late in the game!
This concludes the high drama of San Gabriel football, something we couldn’t have cared less about before Ledesma was canned, and something that is safely in the rear view mirror as we speak.
