(La Verne) – Cathedral, led by sophomore quarterback Bryce Young, beat Upland in the Finals Saturday to win the Bonita Air Assault.
The Phantoms beat Paraclete in the semi finals. Arroyo, which hosts the SGV Shootout this Saturday July 1, finished 5-2 overall and lost to Cathedral in the winner’s bracket.
Well, thanks, I appreciate that. I do have a sense of humor, but I also realize it’s important to practice self-restraint. Careless remarks could potentially bring consequences, especially since I have the guts to use my real name.
I also believe that I shouldn’t come onto any of these blog threads unless I can contribute some useful information. I have plenty of things to occupy my time, between holding two jobs, doing football stats for Alhambra High, and participating in a couple of community organizations.
I hope all of our student-athletes stay healthy and eligible so we can have a great season in 2017.
Just what kind of posters DO keep this site in the black? I’d guess that the average guy who comes on here is equal to what you’d find in a bar, and he wants a little edge in his conversation. The few straight-laced guys we hear from, like the stat guy from Alhambra, are just what the preacher ordered, but I don’t believe that’s the type of talk people click onto this address for. By no means am I advocating abusive or foul language, but sarcasm and criticism done well are always entertaining…as the late great Don Rickles proved.
What? Over the top comments are what you are looking for. Just like Trump saying a woman reporter is a bleeding psycho gets everybody all amped up, the goofy posters keep you guys in the black.

To Cappd Cathedral won because Upland could not Intimidate Them and they got punched in The Mouth. Upland must of had 50 Lavar Balls on Their sidelines talking a lot of smack. The Upland Fans were sure quiet after Cathedral beat them bad on the scoreboard.

Sounds like the Cathedral parents and supporters have been infected with the Lavar Ball disease of making ridiculous statements and disregarding any hint of reality. Good thing there’s a thing called Karma, delivered in the form of zero CIF titles ever, despite the yearly rantings of greatness and scholarship offers. All that talent and no CIF titles? Not good when you get excited that your winning 7 on 7 Tourneys… Last time I checked, it is all about wining that CIF Title! It does not look good to brag about having top kids year in and year out but you get bounced 1st/2nd round year after year! Sounds like it is not the talent at Cathedral? I am just saying…
“Assault” is spot on. There were 5 assaults of all manor on every play and stupid parents cheering and watching their sons assaulted and assaulting.

The last two years has been bad but we weathered the storm. Muir has always been a small school is big school world. Muir average 900 student. The football team is roughly 30 total players on varsity. For a only school that doesn’t recruit we do real well. For as d1 talent none of your d1 is home grown. How many kids have you recruited from Pasadena? But a fan base that talks and brag as much as cathedral , you guys suck. What big games have you guys won? Passing league doesn’t count. In the last 5 years who have you played in the preseason ? Pull up Muir preseason schedule. We have continued to go out and compete.
Cathedral looked great in shorts…great QB and great athletes…problem is they do not have the big men in the trenches…same goes for Upland…I will take Norco over both these teams in a real game. Yes it helps to D1 Qbs, WR and RB…but I would rather have my D1 players in the trenches which Norco has 4 D1 OL and a RB who is committed to Oregon..anyways good luck to all teams this year…FYI need to schedule up boys…Norco preseason-JSerra, Servite, Orange Lutheran and Rancho Cucamonga…
It is a rather sad truth that success breeds jealousy on the blogs. Arroyo High football had a spectacular season in 2016 yet people find time to put the team down. They play in a lower division, they have no NFL prospects, they are small and on and on. Los Altos and La Mirada had fine seasons but bloggers mostly talked about the coaching changes and the negative drama behind them. I guess thats’ the nature of the beast. Win this season and be prepared to have your team dragged through the mud.
This is a SGV blog so i guess i can understand all the hate. The football is not very good but everyone thinks they are a lot better than they are. Mhs you should really not comment too much because you are such an easy target. Your football is horrible. You can go on rivals and see who has d1 offers and who does not. Its not rocket science.
Annoymous I don’t understand what Cathedral did to you to have so much hate forYour Alma Mater. Cathedral , la Mirada, and most Schools below D2 cannot compete with The Bosco’s and Mater dei’s of The world. You have to have Depth and Big Lineman to compete at that level. Cathedral is doing Great for what they have. I agree with the Pre- Season Schedule but man you got to lay off. You spread a lot of hate and that is a bad thing to do.
Last i checked they won the tournament and the previous two. We will see if they are on the schedule at the edison tournament. They dont belong there. They are not good enough to be there.

Last week players couldn’t make it because SAT. Now summer school. A lost is a lost. Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.
Been watching Cathedral for years under DELETED. If you ever go watch a Cathedral passing game you will see coach DELETED run everyone deep and have a rec run across( in the area of the OL DL) the LOS and complete a pass while all defenders r covering deep which BTW take time in a real game. I am not a Cathedral hater by any means. Damn great athletes year end and year out. All of the top quality kids, transfers, local and out of state.

The campus is really nice and the people are very open and nice. I don’t know where all the hate comes in. The kids are respectful and the program is looking good. I thought Arroyo looked real good. They are coming off a cif championship and have 0 offers. They are going up against teams like Cathedral with a roster full of d1 athletes. I thought they executed way better than than Charter Oak who looks the part but was horrible. I’d like to see those two play. I bet Arroyo can beat them. It would be a good game. I know…. the brackets said Co beat every one including Cathedral on day 1. The Cathedrsl team had 7 players there and no qb. They couldn’t get there because of summer school. The 5 jv players… sophomores and a couple Varsity players still almost won. CO barely beat EtewNda and Cathedral showed up and beat them by 50pts so no CO is not as good as all those Sgv people think. Arroyo could run CO this year in pads.
My infrastructure remark refers specifically to Cathedral’s lack of parking and lack of campus space. Both issues could and should have been addressed by the school’s administration in the decades of its existence by way of purchasing some of the nearby residential lots as they came up for sale, so that your facility would have something close to enough room for buildings and cars. That hasn’t happened, and the athletics programs are being used to buttress the school’s image instead….which is exactly what the old Soviet Union did with their Olympic teams.
The Phantoms have already defeated St. John bosco this year and lost by 2 pts to Mater die at the Los alamitos tournament. Anonymous you don’t know anything. Your hatred for Cathedral is pathetic. Next up for Cathedral war at the beach Edison tournament. Only the best of the best are invited.

Cathedral sends 98% of Graduates to Four Year Universities. They are Building a twenty million dollar Theatre Arts Building. Academics are in place. I don’t understand the infrastructure comment. It’s a Great Academic and Sports Institution

The Phantom operation is very similar to the old Soviet Union: heavy on sports, light on infrastructure. All the cheering for this or that Phantom player should be accompanied by an equal measure of embarrassment at the substandard facility these kids attend.
No reason to play in the fall. Just give the trophy’s to the Catholics right now. Cathedral slaughteringaa any and all comers. Our players are all D-1 signees and coaches are ready for USC. No sense for any average football players to come here. No PT for average boys. Those guys can go to Arroyo, Upland and Downey.
I was there and The Phantoms looked Great. They have a lot of skill players and they destroyed Upland with all their D1 players 44-24. The Phantoms also beat some other quality teams. They Destroyed Arroyo and made them look like a Pop Warner team.
No surprise here. Let hand them the summer championship.
