Arroyo would lose by at least 3td to everyone related below them and 5 tds to everyone rated above them. Glendora is rated way too low should be in the middle of the top 10.
You had the 3td spread correct

You guys know what I’m talking about.
I’ve been following LS football since the early 2000 and witness the rebuilding to a league powerhouse. There is a sense of pride we have in our coaches and players, to watch these young men grow into great players is truly special. Regarding transfers, you don’t see boys from other cities lining up to come to LS to play football, but if you want a case of LS transfers I have first hand experience. One of my good friend lives in East Whittier and for some reason sent his son to La Habra to play football, he was a good player but LH never gave him a chance. After a year or so of riding the bench he got frustrated and decided to come to LS, the School he should have been at, He worked hard and got the starting position as LB, that was the 2013 team. In the Championship game he did a great job on Norwalks Rashaad Penny and got his ring. (I forgot to mention he was only 5’10” 170) The thing some of you don’t understand is how LS plays, we are not overwhelming big, but we are fast and play as a unit, our offence is extremely discipline and the motion on offence is special.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Community pride is huge. You get to play for and infront of the people who know you best therefore everyone takes pride in the Teams success. Now maybe it doesn’t happen every year maybe you gotta wait a couple years in between good runs. But when they happen it’s magical. Take last season for the Knights, the entire valley was pulling for us to win it. Quite different from the La Mirada run where it was a collected group of talent who do not live in the city. El Monte kids will remember 2016 forever. Certainly different from Cathedrals annual collection of INDIVIDUALS.

    @Football Fan,

Sure players from outside the area will help a team win. But what’s the fun in that? What’s there to be proud of? If you want want that kind of situation, go to IMG Academy. I know it’s an age old argument but IMO HS football should be about community pride and looking to make hometown school proud. Players who want to play with their friends and coaches who take pride in taking a group of ordinary kids and making them extraordinary. While it may not get yo the publicity, Seems like that would be much more rewarding.

La Mirada will beat Norwalk! I have been hearing all of this 10-0 stuff from the people at Norwalk and I have news for them…you are losing to La Mirada and maybe Mayfair. I had to see them for myself, I thought their Bell Gardens game would be a blowout and I would be able to leave at halftime maybe mid-third quarter. Boy was I wrong, Norwalk could not and did not put Bell Gardens away, matter of fact with around 1:30 left in the game Bell Gardens had the ball and were driving down 26-20. Bell Gardens fumbled and Norwalk recovered and scored a late TD to seal the deal. But by no means did Norwalk blow Bell Gardens out like I assumed they would. Bell Gardens fought hard and gave them a game, Norwalk needs to cut the stupid penalties out and be a little more disciplined. They make these adjustments they have a shot. On a side note, Coach Beltran has scheduled a tough pre-season and is getting that program headed in the right direction. I was completely surprised by what I saw. They could make some noise in the Almont League. But, Norwalk fixes the little things they have a shot at a Suburban League Championship!

AS your Lancers do, you have to schedule up in preseason to prepare your team for league. LM’s roster hasn’t really been an issue until this season as evidenced by LM’s win over OLu in 2016. Keep in mind schedules are usually made a couple years in advance and some times.

In order to compete at higher levels you can not count on your local kids and you need to beef up your roster. This is a formula that both La Mirada and La Habra have used successfully in years past.

If La Serna is happy staying in D3 they can continue to do what they are doing. However, don’t think La Serna doesn’t get transfers.

I have nothing but respect for LM, I have family and friends that live in LM. I just don’t understand why they schedule these elite D1 teams to play, knowing their roster. We all know what LM and BP coaches were doing last year recruiting players from different cities. Regarding private schools it’s a whole different ball game!
I want to see teams truly represent players from their respected cities. In last years heartbreak loss, LS took LM to the limit all with local talent. Wishing LM best of luck in the future with the rebuilding process.

I can clearly remember the 2011 season (CIF#2 San Gabriel) I believe when Monrovia lost three straight in pre season after a game one win over Glendora. San Dimas, Arcadia, South Hills. I guarantee nobody was calling for Maddox to be fired. Relax people it’s not the end of the world. Monrovia will bounce back if not it’s just no their season to do well. Don Lugo would smack most teams in the sgv trust me. Go Wildcats!

LM will be fine when league rolls around. They are playing the toughest schedule in the SGV and are playing teams that no other team in the SGV would even schedule. This with a team that lost 18 starters and had 4 starters out last night and playing a ton of sophs.

If the school admin doesn’t F up like they did and admit the kids who wanted in we would be having a different conversation.

But you to play the hand you are dealt.

They have taken their lumps but will still win league and will be pretty damn good next year.

Once again my point, ER hasn’t had the horses since the 2014 team graduated and that was a monster 2011 class which we have lacked up until this years freshmen class. Vinnie Lopez did well with Zepeda’s recruiting classes, Medrano is currently working with lopez limited classes, not taking anything away from the players there are some good kids, but not enough of them. There is absolutely no reason El Rancho has to go from 2011-2017 without a freshmen team over .500, but that’s how it happened..

A trend in high school and even college is higher scoring games. Offenses are harder to prepare for now and with so many teams running no hiddle offrnses, there will be more points because there are more plays in a game. 10 years ago a team averaging over 30 points a game was almost unheard of. Now it’s almost normal.
Throw in the fact that these guys can’t practice as long as they used to because of the concussion craze and it becomes last team with the ball wins. Football has pretty much become basketball on grass.

A year ago with All-CIF LB Garcia, ER gave up over 30 points a game and they were under .500. So maybe it is the scheme?

Hold on there, idk if it’s a matter of scheme, the Outside LB playing on that right side which they kept exploiting is simply not that big of a kid, he has heart and does make plays but essentially he is a db playing OLB that took a year off last year, he has to make a play. Pomona had these monster WR’s on both sides so it was very hard for our DB’s to play the run. Last year we were blessed with having All-CIF James Garcia playing that outside spot, it’s hard to replace a kid like him. This senior class as freshmen went 2-8 so realistically we don’t have the horses yet however with the loaded freshmen class I would say that won’t be the case in a year or 2.

For me ER’s weakness was highlighted by Pomana’s one offensive play in OT. A simple run to the right that the back went in easily. Clearly the corners are not run stoppers and the backers more intent on blitzing than playing their lane and actually backing up. This all or nothing defense is not working. Norwalk showed that. Pomona proved it. Medrano came in as a defensive guru but he has fallen in love with offense and the bling that goes with it and forgot the defense. The Don’s led 35-21 at home in the 4th and then could not tackle consistently.

It’s not the stars of the team fault they’re not getting the ball . For example Alfonso Castillo had only 5 carries coming into week 3 , Michael Washington had only 4 receptions on 7 attempts . It’s not these kids fault ,its the terrible coaching calls and negativity from the coaches . Heard from one of the kids that Chou does nothing but start problems and push limits . I feel bad for the kids who didn’t transfer it definitely ruined their senior years . Time to get the dudes the ball or put somebody else in .

Man I ask the same thing. Pomona looked dead in the water when it was 35-21 and then then we couldn’t make a play on the outside at all and let them take the W. Defense looked a lot better vs Norwalk a much better team. I’m sure Montebello will be a very difficult game for us.

I agree that Cathedral’s aim in this lopsided Lynwood meeting was merely to pad their stats, not to improve or fine tune anything. If they kept statistics for having no class, the Phantoms would have set a national record in this one.

What is happening to the Ranch? They are allowing below average teams move the ball at will. They appear slow and their special teams are non existent. Their running back #9 seems to be one of the only bright spots. Linebacker play looks weak and the receivers lack toughness. I don’t see how they are going to stop Vital and K-Rod next week. Tapia is going to have a field day. We may score 50 points or more.

I went to the ER game last night. They have a really explosive offense, but they do not play defense. They gave up over 30 points a game a year ago and are on their way to give up even more this year. I’m not sure if it is personal, defensive scheme, bad coaching, or a combination of everything?
