    Just a heads up knights, what is listed on the program is not true. 6’1 180? Think not, try 5’10 160. Coaches add height and weight on guys to make them look good. Come on man! Have you ever played before?

    @Friday Knights,

    Stop! You sound ridiculous. Any kid with legitimate talent will play at Amat before Arroyo. I get it , that’s your team and kiddos to your loyalty. But let’s be honest, if your son was a great QB why wouldn’t you send him to Amat? Any person with the kids best interest would be sending him to Amat…

    5’8 140? That’s probably your height and weight in high school but Camacho is listed at 6’1 180 pounds and anyone who truly has seen the kid knows he’s every bit that big. I’ll repeat myself… where does Bishop Amat get their kids from…. mars? NO! They get them from our area and Camacho is the type of kid that would usually go to bishop Amat. You dopes are acting as if I said Arroyo can hang with Amat! I said Camacho would start at bishop and be an upgrade over their current guy. And sure it would be harder to put up numbers against 225 defenders put there’s a flip side, he’d also have 280 pound lineman and 200 pound receivers with college potential and 200 pound back… oh no wait he’d only a 5’8 140 pound back this year at Amat. You guys took this an entirely different direction than what was intended. But to clarify my stance… Amat gets kids from our area and usually kids with a Camacho size and ability head to bishop Amat. Not that arroyo can hang with Amat

    Holy crap I missed all this excitement, Arroyo and Friday Knights, HAHAHAHAHAHA, if you think Camacho is better than Archuleta , this kid has a ton of real QB moves at his age compared to your camacho (Senior), I like Camacho he is a good QB in his league i repeat in his league, and scrambles well , but his throws are not all accurate the receiver he has #84 gets anything and everything in the air , the other day he grabbed the Good Year Zeppelin) instead of the football.
    Make no mistake Camacho is a complete player as he hits real solid, but common his hits are against 4 foot MVL players. if he had to hit or get hit by the LBs that with 6’1″-6’2″ and 220-225 Lbs he would be the one on the floor., I still like his attitude and tenacity, but he cannot be the starter QB or a super star in big name schools , can he be a starter at any position YES, but not QB. According to you If the has the grades then all Div 1 and Div 2 schools are going to grab him. The kid from Bishop will have offers middle of next year Div 1.
    Also when QBs at bishop are competing they are going against usually D1 backs, D1 LB’s,and D1 OL, speed , size are night vs day from the MVL

    I’m not taking anything away from those kids because I’m sure they are great kids who work hard but be realistic. They would not be starters at schools like Amat or CO or Glendora. I’ve seen them play in the flesh and physically they do not match up. Go watch a D1 or D2 or D3 game and you’ll see the difference. These kids will play their hearts out and make outstanding memories but will likely not play in college, like most of us.
    Nava is/was a far greater QB than we ever were, first and foremost. He redshirted at NDSU because he was never going to see the field. If he was going to get a shot he would have stayed. He’s #3 at Sac. Again, being on the squad is great but don’t make it seem like he’s seeing action every Saturday. A 3 QB in college is just like high school. Little or no PT.
    If Nava or his people are reading this, good luck young man. Get that degree.

    Again? Who do you think makes up the Amat Roster? La Puente kids? The best kids in the area go to Amat… usually! In cases where a stud stays and plays for “his” school usually creates a nice run for that team… for example Ernesto Camacho stays at Arroyo and wins a CIF championship! A Sal Tovar stays at SEM he carries them to a semi finals run. Those two kids right there would start at Amat no doubt!
    Amats Qb Archuleta is a converted receiver and Lopez (former West Covina bruin) is 5’7 145 lbs. Sal Tovar is 5’10 5’11 180-190. Your blind if you think those two wouldn’t start there. Imagine Camacho throwing to all those weapons Imagine Tovar behind that mammoth offensive line? Point is MVL kids are part of the pool that makes Amat what it is. PERIOD!

    If he was that good he would have went to Amat. Period. Which recent Arroyo QB has played on Saturday’s? Rivera? Who eventually became a WR. It’s different playing top level teams and playing the likes of Marshall and Mt. View. MVL kids are good but the best kids would still not start at the top schools. Have you seen these kids? MVL do not match up. It’s amazing how much changes when you drive 15 minutes east. Being the best in the MVL does not mean you are automatically the best in the valley like you, the Mid, and the Trib seem to think.

  17. October 12, 2017 - 3:34 pm | Permalink

    @anonymous
    Yup! I do remember when Nava went to Amat. You went over the summer and thought he could win the job in 6 weeks… not gonna happen at Amat. But he is still playing football on Saturdays and those other two kids aren’t! So what does that tell you?
    Who do you think makes up the Bishop Amat roster? Sgv kids! The best kids in the area go to Amat Camacho is one of the best in the area! He would easily be an upgrade over Archuleta! Amat boys aren’t some kids from outer space, I can run several kids from the last few Amat teams that MVL kids that “chose” to play at Amat. Just as there is a handful in the MVL that “chose” to play at their neighborhood school this year!

    Knight,
    You must be the get back coach or chain gang or assistant to the assistant of the freshman team because you have clue what you are talking about. Arroyo is clearly and will always be the best MVL team. They were given a gift being in D12 last year (forfeits in games they won counted as loses) and won a title. That’s great but they should have been in 11. If you don’t believe me then why was Rosemead in D11 last year? We don’t have to see them play the big dogs because we know they will get blown out. Again, give them credit but don’t be a clown. They have no chance again the big dogs.
    Be realistic. Camacho a starter at Amat? That’s laughable. He’s a great MVL QB but he’s not a dude. Remember when the Rosemead kid went to Amat. He was a fourth stringer. These MVL kids bust their tails as hard as any other kids in the area but they are not on the same planet as some of the kids in the valley. The MVL could assemble an all star team and still lose to Amat. If you think the truth is hating then call me a hater. I just live in the real world.

    It only takes one guy with too much time on his hands to make it appear that a particular team is so exciting that everyone on the boards are wild about them. Pro and con. This guy not only posts under a variety of titles but after a few minutes argues with himself under a different name. Effective? Perhaps to some. Boring? You bet.

    To Friday Knights, Camacho could not start at Amat or any team from Division 8 up. I saw Arroyo this summer at some passing Leagues and they got Destroyed by some upper Division Teams. Let’s be real about this.

  26. October 11, 2017 - 8:37 pm | Permalink

    With who they in front of Arroyo, we do just fine. No one knows how they’ll do against them so all this talk about Glendora and COs we can only know until we play the game. I’d like to think we’ve beaten some really good players over the years. And Camacho would be the Amat starting qb if went there let’s not kid ourselves l. Matter of fact I could name a dozen or more players from the MVL who could start and make a significant upgrade at Bishop right now. So don’t blast it he entire league cause you wanna put down Arroyo.

    Arroyo is a big fish in a small pond. As far as the MVL goes, they have the highest enrollment, get the most pop warner kids, and recruit! When your incoming freshman class is always loaded with talent you should be the class of the league. They are a good D11 or D12 (they should have never been in D12 by the way) but there is no way they can hang with the Amats, COs, and Glendoras of the world. If you believe they can you are completely insane.
    Stats mean nothing. Just because they have better stats does not mean they are better players. Be real. There’s no way Arroyo have two players on the SGV top 10. Amat has 10 better players than the two you mentioned for Arroyo. You tip your cap to Arroyo and their staff but don’t pretend to be something you’re not. You can beat up the MVL and lower division teams but you are not a big dog.

    Moving away from all things Arroyo I find the Del Rio League very interesting. It will be a real dog fight for every team every weekend. All the teams have played honest schedules. From Pioneer’s University,Covina,Montgomery 13-5,, Whittier’s Montebello, Schurr, Sonora 13-4, Santa Fe’s, Cathedral,Northview, Downey13-4,, La Serna’s La Costa,St. Francis,Tesoro 15-4,, El Rancho’s Cypress, Norwalk, Montebello13-6 and Cal’s Mayfair, San Dimas and Schurr 13-5. Solid schedules and then Santa Fe’s win over La Serna, well that throws everything out the window. La Serna will certainly need to get up from an early knockdown, Pioneer is bouncing around like a fresh fighter after keeping El Rancho at bay for most of the game, Cal and Whittier bloodied up each other last week with El Rancho and Santa Fe their next fights this Friday. My go to game will be Whittier-Santa Fe but whichever way it goes it will not decide who will win the Del Rio until week 10.

    I agree Arroyo can’t even carry South Hills jox. Arroyo should be #11 in the valley and SH should be #6. All those team from 7 to 11 would beat Arroyo. Arroyo is good for D11, but would not compete in the higher divisions. Glendora good, Mayfair beat LM, Downey has athletes that Arroyo would not match up with, and Los Altos well coach. That leaves Arroyo at #11.

    CIF Rankings are done by each coach in the divisions. Most just go off of the mexpreps rankings number. So if a team is 2-4 and still has a rating of 24 they will voted higher over a 6-0 team with a rating of 17 by some coaches.
    Moral of story : Tank any rankings just for entertainment value.
