What is this Southern California message board you speak of. Sounds interesting or is it just trolling?

On the issue of recruiting, it’s a free country. Let families excercise their right to pursue happiness even if others don’t agree. Regulations will open the floodgates with lawyers and litigation.

This is the new world of high school football. Getvonboard or be left behind. I don’t agree with the “new way.” But, it’s here to stay. Coaches and boosters of schools have to do better to keep up.

You guys are all off. Chastain is catching heat on the Southern California message board from a couple Norco fans but he is staying at Norco. Those Norco fans/ haters are worse than the Cathedral people on here.

As far as people saying Chuck and Boomer don’t get along, that couldn’t be further from the truth. They still talk regularly. I’ve always said that the best staff would be Chastain, Medrano and Marcel Perez all working together but that would never happen.

Why would chastain leave Norco? He has done solid job and went to Norco. Also he and medrano do not get along. That is true. Also ER is terrible paying day job.

Medina will never leave Podley. He gets every classified job he wants over there.

@ Really?: Your comment about the recruiting being done by some public school athletic programs is well-taken, but I believe there’s still time for the CIF Southern Section to reverse that trend.
Public school administrators, athletic directors, and the CIF leadership only need the will to take action.

@ In Memoriam: Keith Jackson was memorable not only for his immense knowledge of the college game, but also for his infectious enthusiasm. He used to call out, “Whoa, Nellie!” after big plays. May Mr. Jackson rest in peace.

I do have respect to you, but I am sorry! As long as you have head coaches such as Oliva, Manchetti, Ramos etc., who also recruit. The only thing that will take care of this will be the lawyers. Sometime, somewhere, somehow a local boy will gets hurt seriously enough. He should be practicing with boys with lower abilities and now he is a Turnip, that breaths, and has bodily functions. There are players I saw in the playoffs that have no business playing in Division 13/12. I guess that is bad recruiting or maybe it is excellent recruiting? lol.

RECRUITING & TRANSFERS: OUT OF CONTROL

In today’s L.A. Times sports section, Eric Sondheimer writes, “The CIF has waved the white flag of surrender when it comes to transfers.”

I urge everyone to read Sondheimer’s outstanding article (on Page D2) regarding the relentless athletic recruiting and player transfers which are now being allowed to continue openly at some of our leading private high schools.
Sondheimer focuses on Mater Dei, which has enrolled dozens of transfer athletes for the current school year, including former Cathedral QB Bryce Young and his old 7-on-7 friends.
The private schools that unashamedly engage in these practices, effectively turning themselves into farm clubs for college and professional sports teams, should be placed in their own separate leagues and playoff divisions.
Until now, the CIF Southern Section has lacked the courage and good sense to make this essential move.

Sondheimer holds out a ray of hope for public high schools, which are still subject to attendance boundaries. I agree with him; I believe those boundaries should be strictly enforced, with only a few exceptions for extreme circumstances.
Let the big-time private high schools run their semi-professional football and basketball operations. But, let’s bring integrity back to public schools and their athletic programs, which are taxpayer-funded and should be held to a higher standard.

Medina had an opportunity to leave for ER two years ago. The most likely help would be Ibis Aguilar going to coach at ER. Chastain leaving Norco to go to ER is laughable. Why? Chuck and Adrian are hardly BFF’s.

Interesting that coaches haven’t started stepping down yet
From T. Peterson: Actually a few have already. They’ll be more to come.
