(Montebello) – C.J. Martinez, who spent the last two years at Minot State in North Dakota, was named the head coach at Cantwell Sacred Heart the school announced on Twitter. Here’s the press release from Cantwell Principal Robert Fraley.
He is related to the new AD.
Nothing against the coach. But the AD and Principle are playing him like a fiddle
He has not spent more than 2 years at one school?
Hector Spathias is out at Los Atlos and guess whose in??!!
Breaking news out of Los Altos!
That’s all I’m going to say!
20 years at the same school and not even 1 championship appearance? Even back when cathedral was division 16 LOL. That’s your definition of a great coach?
To Annonymous Alegria Downey Coach. You’re still Talking about a Great Head Coach Pearson who sent a lot of Cathedral Players to College. It’s over man just shut up already.
The guy hasn’t even had time to sit in his chair yet and people are already ragging on him. Geeez!
He coached at the college level and an assistant to an assistant. We shall see how he does and how long he stays. I give it two years
Cantwell is becoming less and less about sports, its a shame that the school isn’t the same. Chambers made a great principal and after he left cantwell is just a disappointment in all areas.
lowest of the low
Nailed it. The principal ran out the baseball coach, ran out the basketball coach and ran out the football coach. Let the exodus begin.
The Martinez hire makes no sense unless you understand that Cantwell couldn’t care less about football, so they snagged a fellow who will work for the lowest of the low in terms of salary. The young man is there to add the words ‘head coach’ to his resume, after which he will be out of there faster than the proverbial crap through a goose.
He has coached for about 5 or 6 schools(college and high school) and is 30. I’m sure he is more than ready for a head coaching job after learning bits and pieces from all the different coaches he has been with.
This dude Spent the last 3 years coaching at Universities. Does that not qualify someone? What do you want another old washed up coach just looking for a teaching job who puts up half ass effort into their programs.
Can’t believe they didn’t want cool headed Pearson. Makes no sense, seeing him during 7 on 7 competitions working so well with those volunteer refs. Seeing him during games staying under control with his players, never getting physical. This is a shock to me that they past on this great role model.
OUT of the 70 so applications they pick a 20 year old coach first time head coach…. wow!?
