It’s in the Air at Arroyo in April

Competing in April

By Tim Peterson

(El Monte) – Arroyo hosted Marshall, Mt. View and Baldwin Park Saturday to throw the ball around.

Schurr was out in full force.

It’s early, nothing really to see here but it does wet your appetite for the upcoming football season. Mt. View and Baldwin Park both have new head coaches in Aaron Sepulveda and Josh Knight respectively. It was a little strange to see Knight, a former Arroyo assistant, in Baldwin Park colors.

Josh Knight has taken over as HC at Baldwin Park.

Schurr lost several key players to graduation but based on their numbers the Spartans shouldn’t have too much trouble replacing them.

Here’s a few shots.

Schurr is expected to throw a lot in 2018.

Trying to beat him to the corner.

They’re coming my way.

    Get off Ramos please
From T. Peterson: I agree. This transfer stuff gets so old after awhile. I’m getting to the point that I could care less about transfers. Everybody does it. if you get kids in, fine. If you don’t, cool. Let CIF sort it out. They’ve already ruled that there’s only a 30-day waiting period now anyway. So if they don’t really care why should anybody else?

Gano – Recruitted and won multiple CIF championships
    Bogan – Same as Gano
Farrar – Has done is better than Gano and Bogan
Those three guys where doing what is being done now. The more things change, the more things remain the same. Remember that because everyone is trying to recruit players to their school, don’t BS with your made up coach story. Hell no no coach would be like oh I don’t wants kids to come into my program. IN THE LAND OF THE BLIND THE ONE EYED MAN IS KING.

TRANSFERS CLEARLY MEAN THE COACH HAS NO REAL SKILLS, HIGH SCHOOL BALL HAS NOT GOTTEN BETTER IN THE VALLEY BUT MORE AND MORE A JOKE.

REMEMBER EVERYTHING IN THIS LIFE COST SOMETHING, IF YOU RECRUIT A KID OR HAVE A JOCK SNIFFING FLUNKY DO IT FOR YOU, YOU MAY WIN A FEW GAMES BUT YOU ARE NOW A MAN WITH NO INTEGRITY.

NO FOOTBALL GAME IS WORTH IT, AND IN THE EYES OF THE PLAYERS WE ALL KNOW YOUR JUST A LITTLE WEASEL.

IF YOU RECRUIT 8 PLAYERS THAN ALL TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE SHOULD RECRUIT 8 PLAYERS. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

OUT OF ALL NEW TRANSFERS INTO A SCHOOL ANYTHING MORE THAN 2 OR 3 WHO ACTUALLY PLAY FOOTBALL ARE AGAINST THE ODDS OF PROBABILITY, AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE UNTIL ALL SCHOOLS IN THAT LEAGUE HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF TRANSFERS.

IF THE ADS OR ADMIN HAD AN OUNCE OF INTEGRITY THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW IT BY A LEAGUE MANDATE.

ANYWAY NONE OF THESE SNEAKS WILL WIN A TITLE THIS SEASON ANYWAY, SO WHATS THE UPROAR, ONCE YOU START THE RECRUITING GAME AND YOU ARE NOT A PRIVATE SCHOOL THE KIDS WHO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AT THE SCHOOL AND PAID THE DUES WILL RESENT THE STAFF AND HEAD COACH AND WILL LET YOU DOWN WHEN YOU NEED THEM.

WINNING GAMES SHOULD NOT BE THE FIRST GOAL FOR THESE COACHES AND SCHOOLS BUT RATHER BE A MAN WITH TRUE HONESTY AND INTEGRITY.

I KNOW OF A COACH WHO HAS MANY CONNECTIONS AND GETS MANY PHONE CALLS FROM TRAVEL BALL COACHES AND FROM PARENTS ABOUT TRANSFERRING INTO HIS SCHOOL BUT HE SENDS THEM AWAY STATING I WILL NOT WIN BY BEING A SNEAK AND A CHEAT, I WANT MY PLAYERS AND MY WIFE AND FAMILY TO RESPECT ME AS AN HONEST AND FAIR MAN.

REMEMBER EVERYTHING WILL COST YOU SOMETHING.

PERHAPS THE PROBLEM WITH FOOTBALL IN THIS VALLEY IS NOT THE PLAYERS OR THE FAMILIES BUT COULD IT BE THE SNEAKS AND CHEATS RUNNING AROUND WITH NO INTEGRITY.

    Knights,
I agree. Arroyo gets the best and the most kids year after year. If I was in your shoes I wouldn’t be sweating it either.

However, you ignored my question about Camacho. Your silence simply adds to the intrigue he might not be back.

With out without him, Arroyo wins league. The playoffs will be a different story.

    @anonymous
I’m a homer but I live in reality. Arroyo has question marks unlike the past two seasons where depth was s strength. But after all said and done were still good enough to win league.

EM better be physical because they are one dimensional.

SEM needs to replace 99% of their offense.

    Rosemead who knows

Mountain View ditching the double wing so who knows

    Marshall yawn

Gab you can get a comment when you’re relevant again

I’ll get a full breakdown later.
But no, Arroyo isn’t losing sleep over EM kitties or anyone else in league

    @olier
Those same rumors about home visits and apartments were what we were hearing on the north side Of EM. Also Rodriguez missed a ton of practices and still played. Not sure if it’s true but just chiming in.

But I do hear the roles are reversed this year, Schurr is on the recruiting trail. Getting as many verbals as possible.

Lmfao they we’re not pouched from Schurr? The only one that went there on his own was Vital. K rod was begged by Pete to come to Montbello. Saying that he will get him eligible and that Vital dad who owns apartments will give his family an apartment with section 8. Told his k rod mom they Schurr was just using him for football and that he was never going to graduate. But Pete used him only was eligible for football season. Let him miss a while week of practice and still play in games. Then when he was finally fed up with all his stuff left him out to dry. Angel was promised that he would get him eligible by the start of the season to play. Didn’t happen and even had to forfeit a game cause he played and was ineligible. Don’t kid yourself Pete is a used car salesman. Promises everything. Even promising that he can get kids recruited to USC. Lol

A few questions. #1 Can the transfer and their returning RB rack up yards behind their below average line? I’ve seen their two big kids and they’re soft. #2 How good is their defense? #3 Can their one trick pony offense ground and pound Arroyo for a league title?

Arroyo will run their QB more than you think, and Schurr will need to run the ball as well. If you want to win and have a long season run the ball. Please enlighten us with these house visits? Montebello is not the one bragging about their/or better yet needing transfers? Montebello being scared of losing the league title? They have won 4 of the last 5 league titles? Not too sure they are scared? Montebello JV game vs Schurr last year was not pretty. Montebello has a all league safety returning, 2 all league LB’s, a starting DE and DT on the defense returning. On Offense they have all league OT, 3 of their 4 WR’s returning (1 made all league), their all league RB and their backup QB. I think one of our other OL returns although he did not make all league. Not too shabby? Time will tell. They have over 100 players out for football and by the looks of things I don’t think our coach is very scared. Just good old business as usual.

Coach stay off the blogs. Tim both sides embarrassed themselves. For arroyo to stoop down to their level is ridiculous. Marshall had maybe 8 or 9 kids……I’ll make sure my boy keeps his emotions on check. The boys are there to compete not act like their out on the streets
From T. Peterson: No it was all Marshall…I was standing five feet away. The Marshall kid threw on the Arroyo player who was just trying to get him off of him. Then the assistant – not the HC but some skinny assistant – wouldn’t let it go and kept trying to charge the player. Another coach held him off with one arm. Haha! At one point he said “I’m a football coach but I’m a gangster too!” …what a joke! When one of the level headed Marshall players asked the one kid why he threw a punch at the Arroyo player he responded “Because he was in my way”…they started laughing at him. The whole thing was total comedy. Marshall left the field beaten and embarrassed. So anyway, that’s what happened.

Montebello has nothing to do with any transfers and can not be involved with other schools transfers…. let’s be honest the only reason Pete is/would complain would be out of fear of losing league again. While he’s at it why doesn’t Pete call CIF for Downey, Mater Dei, UpLand etc. they are getting way too many transfers, not fair… boo hoo! Maybe it’s because Pete can’t steal anymore Schurr kids, but hey they played! Schurr could have legit called CIF but they didn’t. @prognasticator transfers are legal still as long as the player moves into district or uses the sit out period if he doesn’t move. That part hasn’t changed. However, all the people who coach these 7 on 7 teams can’t have players transfer into their school if they coached on that team. That’s the problem Schurr and I’m assuming other schools that are doing it are having right now! There are players on that team who go to various schools and are being rumored to transfer there, but if they do they will be deemed ineligible for the entire season. Not just the 5 games, regardless if they move or not. At that point it wont matter because that is when the undue influence will be taken into consideration

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t transfers legal now? I don’t think the old verbiage applies anymore. Second thing is if a place like Schurr needs 8 transfers to make them a contender someone is off their rocker! Schurr has 3200 kids and a solid athletic history they should never be a bad team. That QB from Cantwell you speak of… he may be a good football player but from I hear he can’t stay healthy. So if they do recruit the kid they better get two QBs just in case lol.

That won’t be Schurr’s team once the pads come on, they are trying to get 8 transfers in as we speak. The big one being the QB from Cantrell, the problem they are running into is, the kid is the QB on the Elias/Oliva passing team and by definition that would be undue influence and Athletically Motivated transfer. If he or a couple of the other kids on that team transfer in Pete at Montebello would have a legitimate leg to stand on when he makes the call to CIF. Just feel sad for the home grown Schurr kids, they have athletes at the school and can easily compete in the Almont and the Division they are in but they (Ramos, Elias, Olivia) are going to sell their soul for the transfer kids and probably lose there coaching jobs while doing it.
