Boys not yet in their teens were trapped 2 1/2 miles into a cave with rising waters in the dark with no food and no hope for 9 days. When found they did not cry for mama but wrote to mama not to worry about them. Outstanding! I wonder how our coddled boys from these crying cheating schools would have fared in similar circumstances? My take is they would follow their parents example and cry and wail at the unfairness of it all then who knows what happens after that.

We shall see, I guess we should start planning our CIF championship party now. Brown has guaranteed it. By chance did he get CIF titles at either of his previous schools?

Brown can bring in all D1 talent, he’s still has to coach them up. His resume so far hasn’t shown anything close to coaching excellence… You LA fans that wanted a coaching change and that admin are gonna fine out soon enough grass ain’t always greener on the other side and sometimes that grass is full of gophers….

Yes they were beat up. They beat the teams they were suppose to and lost to the teams that are superior talent wise. The reason why his 7-3 record means nothing is because it shows LA could beat the teams ranked in lower divisions but what happen in the first round of the playoffs against Moorpark? They lost 42-0. Los Altos is ranked in division 5 and unless you bring in talent the same thing will occur every single year. When it comes to the higher divisions especially at 5 talent wins championships. Gano knew that, Farrar knows that, and schools that have been successful in the higher up levels know that. Sadly Los Altos doesn’t have the talent of the 2015 team or the 2017 team. Had they had maybe 1 or 2 more transfers each of those years, you would be talking about two championship years. Let Coach Brown do what he needs to do because I guarantee if in the end we are in a final no one will be complaining.

Coach Spat when he was at Bassett turned a lot of athletes into football players. Bassett kids believed in the system. Coaches spent time working with kids teaching them the game of football. He turned a school that always finished 1-9 every year to a team that would compete. Bassett wasn’t a powerhouse team but he made them respectable. Spathais and staff are great guys. Workman will be ok.

We got beat up last year? By 3 teams? If Spat could come in last minute and Coach those guys to a 7-3 season why couldnt Brown do the same with this team? You have got to be kidding me. We lost to CO, DR, and Glendora. Your beat up statement comes on a split tongue. Your moral compass must be set in the same direction as our AD and staff

Last year we got beat by superior teams with alot of talent by way of transfers. If we didnt upgrade this year we will get our butts kicked all year. But i guess some of our parents dont care about winning they just care about there kids playing alot to brag that there kid start at LA

Coacher, typical answer from today’s thinking. replace sub-par players? that’s the whole issue. Get the sub-par players and work them in the off season with a weight program and great coaching to build your subpar players into league contenders. In case you are unaware of what that is called?……its called COACHING.

I don’t think defending last years staff would be the right choice, complaint last year was very few coaches on the field during the week at practice and 20 coming out of the woodworks Friday nights, cant preach dedication sacrifice and give it all you got when you cant lead by example.
transfers happen everywhere there is hype, Coach Brown comes with it, in the end best player will be on the field. one thing for sure is, Football is the ultimate game of adversity, things change by the down sometimes, if little transfer jonny gets hurt, someone else needs to be ready to play, if were home complaining because our babies aren’t playing then were not teaching our kids that life is also full of adversity, just because we don’t get promoted at work doesn’t mean we quit and try another company, as adults we need to teach our kids that life isn’t fair, go out there and give 100% of effort everyday and good things will come.

These kids ain’t coming in to replace good players they’re coming in to replace subpar players so the program can win. That’s what it’s about winning. So if your kid is getting bumped out he probably ain’t good enough. But every kid on the team gots a role offense, defense, special teams, scout at practice. All you could do is make it a competition and work hard. So stop complaining for your kid, cause I’m sure he knows they’re better then him.

It’s truly amazing that parents can’t let kids fight their own battles. More character is built off adversity. If your son can’t handle competition then maybe football isn’t the sport your son should be playing. Football has changed and unfotunatley the numbers across the board are down and coaches aren’t taking positions anymore. All your complaints to districts will not help your situation the only thing it’s doing is putting a target on your son for having the parent that just can’t stay in the stands. Please just let the players play and the coaches coach. The best players will been the field and if your son is one of them great, if not then continue and work hard at practice and make the most of opportunities that are given. Trust me if the team ends up winning CIF I’m sure nothing will matter when they can walk around campus with a championship ring.

So dismount off your high horse for a second and look around you. Chasing a championship ring by any means necessary is not building character. So yes we are meeting with school district, to ensure that all the transfers we got are valid. Creating twnaion, you can cut with a knife between the original conquerors and the transfers is not the way to go about things. The boys consider themselves brothers and all these new kids come in with a chip on their shoulder knowing no matter how they act, perform on the field, or if they play with integrity they will be the starters.

I think you hit on the head there. The problem is parents who have seen their kids dominate at the youth levels automatically assume that will continue in high school. Well, those in the know realize kids develop at different ages. Some kids are so far more developed at let’s say 10,11,12 than other kids those kids usually stand out at the youth level then puberty kicks in and vaboom! It’s hard to swallow that their kids peaked in 8th grade. Parents are the problem

Regarding transfers one only needs to look at the CIF front office. I do not know the interworkings but it feels like the Mafia. No one is voted in. Seems to there mainly to collect money. Laise-sez faire attitude. Change needs to start there with leadership dedicated to clean up football first then the other sports. Right now it is run like a minor league system for college D1 prospects and everyone else grab whatever you can, just make sure we get our beaks wet.

The reality is that if you don’t recruit it makes it tough to win. This isn’t any different to what other schools that have had success have done. Looking at Charter Oak, they have always recruited players from other areas. Let’s not get to Mater Dei or SJB which go out and get the best players from the state. But even decades ago, teams would go out and recruit players. When looking at Los Altos the reality is that the talent is not there to win a championship. There are just a handful of players that can truly be game changers. So when looking at the perspective of the admin or the coach you have to win or else you might end up without a job. A lot of time and money is invested into having a successful program and let’s be honest Los Altos has won 11 CIF championships in which in a lot of those years their key players did not live in the area. Everything we do now is result based and without good players, it makes it really tough to win games. Look at Bishop Amat they don’t go out and recruit players like other private high schools and have not had a successful playoff run in a very long time yet alone close to winning a Division 1 championship. If I were the parents just trust the coach that at the end of the day the best player will get the playing time. If that is your son great and if not then continue to work hard at practice. A little competition never hurt anyone.

They do take kids on permits like every other public school. The difference is people actually want to go to Arcadia. They don’t enroll at the school, the school has nothing to do with it. It’s one of the harshest realities as a parent to admit that our child may not be as good at doing something as we would like. Football is a unique animal. Not everyone is cut out for it because it’s physically and mentally demanding. It’s violent. It’s grueling and not for the faint of heart. Some parents don’t know about this because they’ve never played the game. So, they resort to blogging to vent their frustrations and criticize coaching staffs. I’m all for standing up for your kid, but if he’s not cut out for football, don’t take it out on others.
