The Rowland Raider Roundup Tournament is set for Saturday July 14 at Rowland High. First game is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. with the championship set for 2:15 p.m.
Pools:
Pool A: Rowland, Bosco Tech, Cantwell, St. Pius Academy
Pool B: Granite Hills, Los Altos, Norte Vista, Rivera
Pool C: Magnolia, Firebaugh, Santiago (Garden Grove), Rosemead
You are in fact correct. LA should have never been in this tourney to begin with. It is giving the boys a false sense of winning. Granted our JV team won the round up, but honestly did you see it going any other way? Coach Brown knew what he was doing, he knows what LA admin and parents want. WINS. He should have entered LA into the battle at the beach, winning that tourney would have been something to brag about.
* fyi *
There are several people who post on here anonymously and all their names are *anonymous*
@ conq nation yes they did well but I bet some people like Anonymous and or some of our own LA parents will still not be happy
@Anonymous dude you are so dam negative against Los Altos all the time, there JV played most of the tournament, what is it did your son still not get enough playing time.
I heard Los Altos won this tournament not a surprise
Congratulations to the Los Altos Conquerors for winning the Rowland Raider Round Up tournament! We are proud of you guys! Keep it up.
I know that with their banishment to the 605 league, Pioneer has for all purposes vanished, but they are still hosting their annual passing tournament this Saturday. The fact that they are able to see this through is remarkable in and of itself.
I’m hearing it’s Bishop Amat JV team or frosh/Soph which ever they have. Not varsity.
100% agree
These 7 on 7 tourneys get more interesting by the day. Bishop Amat and Bassett are in the same tourney? Whats going on at Amat?
I haven’t laughed so hard in a very long time. I’m not putting down any player, I never said that our 20 transfers were not good players. I did however say that there is an unacceptable amount of tension between the transfers and the orig boys. How old are you anyways, did you really just question my athletic ability! Please forgive me I am definitely not an NFL superstar like you are. I’m glad we will be able to see you on tv with your son on national signing day!
@El Campeon
We all sit behind a screen and give our own opinions. You telling someone to “get lost” won’t do anything, tough guy. What are you going to do? Write a scathing blog post to me time and time again? LOL
These guys are not saying the tournament shouldn’t be held, but they’re saying Los Altos is too high of a division team to be in it.
Good luck to all the teams at the Rowland tournament this weekend. Compete, improve and have fun!!
@Football Fan, It’s individuals like Anonymous who plague our communities throughout the country, crying and whining about their situation; trying to live vicariously through his child. Then he’s sitting there behind a computer screen talking down other young athletes when he hasn’t a speck of athletic ability himself. Pathetic. And, I thought I told you to get lost, Anonymous. This thread is for individuals who appreciate high school football and the work that goes into it. You’re a joke.
pioneer 7v7 teams –
Colony
Fairmont Prep

jurupa hills
yucca valley
verbum dei

these events arent about winning a 1st place to get a freakin t shirt and a picture . its about competing , getting better , playing against someone other then your own and having fun . these events are fun for the kids , they love it . anyone who says otherwise is probably someone whos never been or had a child play in a 7v7 tourney . I think pioneer 7v7 is more competitive tho
So the teams in this tournament may not be the best teams in So Cal. Aren’t they allowed to try and get some work in against other teams and get better before the season starts?
Granted, some teams install a 7 on 7 offense to try and win these things but other teams do go out and try to get better. Everyone gets reps against other competition besides themselves in an effort to improve.
I don’t get all the hate.
I don’t understand
7 on 7 does serve a purpose!!it helps the coaches passing game, the camaraderie between receiver and quarterback, and it helps develop the sophomores and juniors to be!! And the timing of pass patterns. So passing league does serve a great purpose for coaches!!!
@Anonymous, you sound very foolish criticizing these young men and the coaches that are going to participate in this event. You also sound like someone who’s never played football. You also sound like someone who’s bitter about something. Why don’t you do everyone a favor and leave.
First off winning a 7 on 7 means what exactly ? There is no rushing the passer, no running the ball, very short clock, coach in the huddle,no real refs, 40 yard fields, no pads or helmets, if you have one tall speedy receiver you probably score more, no kicking, no snapping. So you win what? Certainly it is not football. It is more like a slam dunk contest or homerun derby.
Adults disrespecting young student
Athletes that work hard in the class room and on the field smh.
Wow. This is a weak pool. Worse than Pioneer’s?
Is the Pioneer Elite 7 on 7 this Saturday as well if so who’s in it.
Best of luck to you Old Coach give em hell
Not to insult any team in this tournament but Los Altos should not be in any of these pools. Demographics have changed drastically in Rowland Heights and unlike many schools they try and coach up their players to be football smart. They are not the same school they were in the late 80s and early 90s. I think that this was a bad move on Coach Browns part, it is very arrogant. I hope Coach Brown shows class while at this tournament. I have personally never seen a division 5 or 6 team compete at Rowland passing league. Good luck to all the teams on Saturday
No need to hate, just don’t comment. These 12 teams will be working just as hard as the teams in the El Rancho, Bonita, and Arroyo Tournaments. It deserves coverage.
Los Altos took 3rd in a Weak and very Bad Arroyo tournament. This one is worst but I give Rowland credit for at least trying. Let’s be real , anything below D6 is not very good at all.
How awesome is this one going to be? Mater Dei and Bosco tried like hell to get in, but couldn’t make the cut. One negative is that there are normally so many college scouts crowding the sidelines that casual fans may find it hard to get a decent viewing angle, so plan on getting there EARLY.
Hahaha
Its more like the 4th 5th and 6th string lol
My son starts genius. Its not about playing time idiot its about following the rules.
@anonymous grow the hell up just cause your son suck doesn’t mean you have put team and people down so just shut the hell up and just make your son a dame cheerleader because that what he is anyways
I am very glad to be coaching in the Rowland tournament . As the defensive coordinator at Norte vista it going to be a great honor to complete vs Los Altos who has a great football history. Thank you coach Jacobson for Inviting us I know all 12 teams are going to get better Saturday.
Spoken like a true Super Bowl Champion! Good job so you feel better now.
Are NOT*
Lost Altos just took 3rd place at the Arroyo tournament, it not about winning these tournaments it’s about repetition to get things right. I bet these comments are coming from the same parents crying about there kids not getting playing time. Get over it already, by you guys putting down our team your kids are going to get more playing time
Lol… yea, that’s pretty bad. Maybe the head coach got tired of all the parents complaining about there kids not playing. So he entered this tourney so all the 2nd and 3rd string can play.
Lololololololol
Hanging our heads in shame.
Los Altos entered this tournament!!! HahahahAhahahHahahahah
Must be really need a tourney win lol
