It will be over by the first quarter with our 2nd string. LOL!!. Don’t go all jumping bean crazy because you beat Whittier, what are they division 13? There were adjustments in the 2nd half to give help to our corners. And what was open in the 1st half wasn’t in the 2nd. If you follow us this year we’re averaging almost 300 yards per game on the ground (with at least 4 different backs) getting quality touches per game. We scored on 8 of 10 possessions and it all starts up front with our O-line. It’s one thing to dominate in non-league but it’s another story to control a ball game in league. And that’s what our boys up front were able to do last night. The dominated the line of scrimmage and eventually wore Whittier down. But was most impressive was our DL and backers able to keep their QB and #29 at bay on the ground. No back breaking runs. Still plenty to work on. The Del Rio is still wide open.

A little confused. The Cardinals had ER by about 6 inches to 8 inches on every matchup. Every time they put the ball up deep it was a TD or a PI penalty. EVERY TIME! I thought you only stop doing something when it ain’t working? After midway in the 3rd Whittier stopped and decided running and rolling to the sidelines was a better idea and the offense stalled. ER kept doing the same thing which was way different than what their no huddle usually does. Run and run with their QB who was not really a runner until last night, and attack the middle. They ran and ran on plays that should have been passes and ran because it kept working. They did not change to something fancier. Whittier looked better to me athletically but I rarely say this, they got out coached.

@Ron you should continue to beat that drum regarding poor officiating. I have only seen the officiating get worse in the SGV and I can tell you one thing, the officials don’t care one bit. They think they are the hardest working people on the field. They seem to forget they are paid (not a lot, but more than they should given how poor they are) to do a job. Poor and I would say targeted poor officiating is changing the outcomes of games. I was sent a video by a friend of a kid who was ejected for a hit. He should have not been ejected and there should not have been a flag. No helmet to helmet and no targeting. Shoulder to shoulder and the kid is thrown out by an official with a clear agenda. If schools made the nonsense official responses they get from the head of officials fans would go nuts.

Bro we got beat and that’s it. We had our chances and couldn’t close the deal. From the looks of it now Montebello is the team to beat for a chance at the Almont. Schurr was slightly better than we thought. I hope we can bounce back and get it done. Montebello step onto the field and may the best team win!

Well let’s see, our freshman won 42-0 and JV won by 14 and now our varsity who consists of a whole lot of sophomores beat your “senior” base team! You said coaching but y’all got our coached and had a lot of help from the refs. Let’s be honest, even your faithful Ron knows it!

First off hats off to Whittier for battling back and not hanging their heads after we went up 21-0. Our boys make no excuses. We play with what we have and we’re proud of the young men that battle each and every week. Underdog? That’s nothing new for the Ranch. Let’s continue to support our boys in a positive way because each league game is important in the Del Rio, plus we haven’t proved or earned anything yet.

    Greetings Ron Vrooman,

You guys only had two plays. All Montebello has to do is take care of your run game. I suggest adding more plays. As for transfers only two are cleared. Its clear that you are annoyed that we won and it’s okay. Good luck in trying to get into playoffs. I think if you make playoffs then it’s a good season and especially with your preseason record. Again 5-1 is good. (Sarcasm)

Spare me the what if’s, if ER’s corners were taller, if ER doesn’t drop 2 kickoffs… there are no what ifs tho..

@ Anonymous: What game were you watching? Yeah, it looked like the Moors got away with offensive pass interference on one play, but we were subjected to horrible calls as well.
One case in point: The late hit out-of-bounds on our punter, who had just run for 10 yards on 4th-and-16 late in the first quarter. That personal foul should’ve given AHS a first down at the Schurr 33, but the officials incorrectly ruled it a dead-ball foul and awarded the ball to the Spartans after marking off the penalty yardage.
The officiating was terrible in general, and I’m sure that it adversely affected both sides. The refs were disorganized or disoriented much of the time; they were the worst crew we’ve seen so far this season.

@ No Moor: The Spartans played well tonight; I’m convinced that the five transfer players who became eligible this week helped them. At the very least, their getting reinforcements didn’t hurt. Having said that, Schurr has a tradition of putting it together for league play.
Two more takeaways from tonight’s game: 1) Nathaniel Palacios is a good quarterback for Schurr, and he has excellent receivers in Jeremiah Hartfield and Ray Whitney. 2) Running back Isaiah Contreras took a beating, but he kept right on going; he’s a tough kid.
By the way, the Moors will bounce back; we’ll be ready for Montebello. Our running game has to improve, and that’s one of the main things we’ll be working on next week.
Schurr and Alhambra both looked like playoff-caliber teams to me; don’t be surprised if both make it to the postseason. And, by all means, you’re welcome to try your condescending attitude on someone else.

we got a lot of work to do, but at 5-2 with losses to Northview and Pomona 2 likely league champs, were sitting nicely with a shot at a playoff berth.
