1. Kike Hernandez singled home the winning run on his bobblehead night in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday night to give the Dodgers a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. It was the second straight walk off win for the Dodgers.

2. La Habra knocked off Upland 21-14 Thursday night.

3. Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton injured his left ankle Thursday night in a 10-3 preseason loss at New England.

4. Bishop Amat shut out Diamond Ranch 17-0 Thursday night to kick off the 2019 high school football season.

5. Miami vs. Florida Saturday at 4:00 p.m. PT on ESPN.

6. Former area stars Jorge Reyna (Downey) and Steven Comstock (Northview) are the number one and number two quarterbacks at Fresno State. USC hosts Fresno State Saturday August 31 at the Coliseum to kick off the college football season.

7. Matt Fink (Glendora) is currently the number three quarterback at USC.

8. The Baltimore Orioles have allowed 259 home runs this year – a major league record for home runs allowed in a season.

9. Former Laker star (5-time NBA champion, 18-time All-Star) Kobe Bryant turns 41 today.
