I’m not saying they’d win, but to say no chance just because of a number in division… I’m just not sold on that. But I respect LS dominance. I saw ER last night… their quarterback is nice. Small as all hell but mobile and has a nice Arm! Defense was tough and hardnose!
@Stat Man
Check the stats for the LS – Warren game punk.
SGV, different reasons, but we definitely don’t get the athletes nor the size and numbers that we used to, the one dimensional look on offense tends to steer away some athletes.
Downey suck and i dont hear none of their fans for the first time in forever!
Philly B,
I like your take. Though, sorry to say, but Monrovia wouldn’t stand a chance v D6 La Serna. And yes, Monrovia should take care of business v Arroyo (D11 to your D9), as they got handled (putting it nicely) by D12 Rio Hondo Prep!
@Dan. Westco fan. You guys have been absent for awhile. Why the fall off? Losing players to Northview and South Hills or is it just coaching? Man for awhile you guys ruled the SGV and not that long ago.
@ Stat man
Stats, stats and more stats it doesn’t mean anything… Is that what you do all day is look at stats? You should go to a game, you might learn something. Tell us what team you rep? So we can bring up some stats.
Soooo just like last year! Only a midway through the season and everybody and their mama wants to crown LS league champs and give them title and a deep run in the playoffs! I’d advise let the season play out. Respect to La Serna for consistency playing tough opponents leading into league play. (Would love to see them match up vs. Monrovia) El Rancho in my opinion is playing better than last year and they remember that butt whoopin LS gave them last year. I think the game will be closer then what most people think.
The Arroyo faithful…. well…. you’re going to learn all about Wildcat Football this Friday. The hits will be heard from Santa Anita, the athleticism you’ll think you’re looking at John Muir of old, and the toughness will be something you never experienced before. Monrovia has been down a few years by our standards and San Marino has taken advantage but even then we usually can put a team together and make a run!
Sidenote, Pasadena lost to crescenta valley, but they are sleepers in their division and could definitely make a run for 2nd place in the Pacific. Mark my words they’ll beat the brakes off of Arcadia, take out Burroughs and Burbank and Muir will be the only toughest test before playoffs
You LS’ers spin it any way you want to but stats are stats. Not to worry though. As your Cal Preps ratings are like 20 points higher or so than Warren you should defeat them easily. Lotsa luck.
All this LS hasn’t played anybody or is overrated talk is absolute balogna, they continue to be one of the area powers that consistently win at all levels.
SGV, I’m a West Co fan, (hard times lately), not a La Serna fan, but you have to respect the fact that they have beat or come close to beating more upper division teams than any other mid level team that I can think of. Don’t see how they are overrated.
@Stat Man and SGV
Against stooge teams? Your statement is laughable. La Serna, at the time, moved up in divisions and competed in every playoff team whether they won or lost. ER won more playoff games sure… but in a lower division. If ER were to play those teams they wouldn’t have won any of those playoff games in 2016 or 2018 (Serrano and Colony respectively). I’m not counting the 2015 year even though Beltran was gone because that was still his team when they went to the finals and lost to LM.
La Serna doesn’t recruit or solicit transfers and plays with the talent that comes to them. Not sure what’s up with all the hate but ya’ll need a life.
@Stat man , SGV
You sound like hater’s living in the passed.
Yes, we have not fared well in recent playoffs and our record post Beltran is 5 W’s 4 L,s
Question, who have you played in the playoffs?
2018, LS @ St Paul, 34-30 SP
(battle in the Pit)
2017, LS @ St Francis, 31-27 SF
(battle at St Francis)
2016, LS @ La Mirada, 32-31 LM
(game went down to the wire)
2015, LS @ La Mirada, 45-20 LM
(La Mirada 2015 CIF State Champions)
@critics- warren is a good team, we shall see Friday night.
@ Anonymous
Thanks for the update.
My son played and graduated from LS several years ago and I haven’t been to a LS vs LH scrimmage in a few years. I support the LS program and enjoy going to the games throughout the season.
@SGV: Check that dude. LS has won two playoff games since Beltran left. ER has won 3 in that time frame.
La Serna laughably over-rated team. They have won what, 3 playoff games against stooge teams since Beltran left. When the going gets tough they run and hide.
@Mav
Unfortunately LS doesn’t scrimmage La Habra anymore and hasn’t for two scrimmages now. Last season (2018) they played Chino Hills and this season they had to play Bell because Chino Hills cancelled in the summer. Everything else you stated is correct.
@area dad and @maverick:
I’ve never been a real big fan of La Serna. That being said, they run that offense better than anyone. They are disciplined and they play hard. You mix in those homegrown kids coming out of the Whittier youth leagues with some “unsolicited” transfers and you have a pretty decent team. They will be beat Warren and will run the table in the Del Rio. While I’d love to the Ranch beat them, it ain’t going to happen.
@Mav,
I have to agree with you. La Serna is an monster that feeds itself. Most players in that district choose to go there because of the programs success which also gets unsolicited transfers as well. The rest of the Del Rio league strives to be there. El Rancho needs to bring it “A” game plus if it had a chance but you never know
@Mr.Goldbricker thanks for analyzing this weeks games with honesty, unlike FridayNights who couldn’t resist and had to take a shot at El Monte like always.
@Del Rio Watcher
You still didn’t answer the question?
Are you a Warren fan or a LS hater watching and wishing. I will admit we haven’t been tested, with the exception of the bump in the road against Colony. Friday nights game against Warren will be a battle. Do you remember last years game? It went down to the wire, 47-46 Warren.
You talk about LS’s schedule like the rest of the Del Rio has been taking on Monster’s.
Comparing LS’s preseason with Sierra Vista is a joke… For your information.
