Rio Hondo Prep has won CIF championships in football before. But that was in lower divisions. The Kares had previously competed in divisions like 12 or 13 but this year the Kares were placed in Division 9. They won’t be able to win at this level right? I mean Rio Hondo Prep only has 150 students. The Kares are in over their heads right? Wrong!

Mid Valley Sports 2023 Player of the Year: Owen Long-La Serna

La Serna won the Del Rio League. La Serna won the CIF Division 4 championship and finally the State Bowl 2-AA State title. The Lancers had several players that contributed to the successful season but at the forefront of it all, leading the charge, was Owen Long.

Most Valuable Player. What does that mean? It means the player that is the most valuable to the team. It’s the player that without him in the lineup it would be nearly impossible to win. It’s the player that the team relies on in all situations, early in the game late in the game and when things get tough. In 2023 South Pasadena running back Jason Hong was all of those things.
