By Corey Kwok (Temple City) – Calvin Copping threw a complete game allowing just one unearned run on six hits while posting 12 strikeouts to carry host Temple City to a 5-1 first round CIF playoff win over Kaiser of Fontana Thursday.
CIF Playoffs: San Dimas, Northview Win; Arcadia Falls
By Corey Kowk San Dimas 3 Troy 2 The Saints got a sacrifice fly from Josh Avila to bring in Shawn Kennedy in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Troy 3-2. Daniel Milwee pitched a complete game allowing eight hits and striking out five to get the victory.
Mid-Valley Baseball Top 20
Bonita and Mayfair finish off perfect league runs while Crescenta Valley and Nogales get hot late to win their league titles. Alhambra holds on to win the Almont while Temple City beats Monrovia on the final day to win the Rio Hondo. Cal and La Puente survive to win the Del Rio and the Montview respectively. Playoff pairings will be announced Monday.

By Corey Kwok Division 2 Glendora 5 Harvard-Westlake 3, Glendora adv to quarterfinals, hosts Valencia (OC) Friday at 3:15pm. Valencia knocked out Arcadia first round by scoring on a passed ball at Giambrone Field. La Mirada 2 Rialto 1, La Mirada adv to quarterfinals, hosts Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach) Friday at 3:15pm.
