Covina Hangs on 16-14

(Pomona) – With Billy Livingston out of the lineup with an injury, Covina Coach Darryl Thomas knew he would have to rely on the running attack. Vinny Venegas and Gevontray Ainsworth responded by rushing for 209 yards combined in the Colts 16-14 win over Pomona Friday night in the Valle Vista League opener.

Heralds are Semi Tough

(Whittier) – Stephen Anderson threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns to lead Whittier Christian to a 28-17 win over Covina Friday night at Whittier College. With the victory the Heralds earned a trip to the CIF Mid-Valley Division Semi Finals next week.   

Livingston Lights it up for Colts

By Tim Peterson (Covina) – Billy Livingston didn’t play in the first quarter and he didn’t play for half of the fourth quarter. But two and a half quarters was all he needed to carve up the Wilson defense in a 36-16 rout of the Wildcats in Valle Vista League action Friday night.
