Spartans Closer to Rio Hondo League Title

(San Marino) – The window of opportunity to win a Rio Hondo League title for San Marino has gotten quite small after its 7-4 loss to first-place La Canada. The win by the Spartans shrunk its “magic number” to two.

Titans Avenge Loss; Beat Monrovia

By Josh Lowden (San Marino) – Still in the hunt for the league championship, San Marino gained some momentum into the league race, avenging an earlier loss to Monrovia with a 4-0 victory. All four runs came in the first inning.

Titans triumphant over TC

By Josh Lowden (Temple City) – While known for her dominance on the mound, it is her complete game that makes Michelle Floyd one of the best in the valley. Floyd struck out nine, hit a home run, and had two RBIs to lead San Marino to a 5-0 victory over the Temple City Rams.

It seems like just yesterday the first game took place in the 2011 season. Now with just a month left in the season teams are jockeying for position, while others are playing out the season.

O’Leary Silences San Marino Bats

(La Canada) – Lauren O’Leary threw a complete game two-hitter to help La Canada extended its lead in the Rio Hondo with a 3-0 win over San Marino.

La Canada Improves to 4-0 in Rio Hondo

By Josh Lowden (Temple City) – La Canada battled back from a 1-0 deficit enroute to a 4-2 victory over Temple City in a Rio Hondo League game on Wednesday. “Anytime you come out of Temple City with a win,” said La Canada coach KC Matthews, “it’s a good day.”

Wish Spring Break could hit all teams at the same time. The next two weeks will see an abbreviated schedule with more than half of the schools heading into the Spring Break. The remainder will have already taken the vacation this week or the following week.

High School Softball Top 25

Not many changes with the abbreviated schedule due to the inclement weather. This week many make-up games either because of scheduling conflicts or rain. Bonita (11-2) – Bearcats get a rare week off due to rain. South Hills (8-3) – Promising start to Sierra League.
