Valencia knocked out Arcadia first round by scoring on a passed ball at Giambrone Field. La Mirada 2 Rialto 1, La Mirada adv to quarterfinals, hosts Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach) Friday at 3:15pm.

By Tim Peterson   Bishop Amat moves into the top spot with a one run win over South Hills. The Huskies had the bases loaded in the seventh inning. Glendora survived a scare at Chino Hills but is still in the Sierra driver’s seat.

Bishop Amat moves into the top 20. It took some convincing because Amat hasn’t always been in our coverage area but 8-0 in the Del Rey league and 19-2 overall was too much to ignore. Glendora, Bonita and Monrovia all lost league games while Northview, South Hills and Arcadia remained perfect.

High School Baseball Area Top 20

Temple City’s ten inning tie with Glendora was the highlight of the Apache Invitational. The Tartans’ Adam Plutko attracted plenty of scouts with a fastball that was clocked at 91. He didn’t disappoint by striking out 16 but the Rams battled him to a deadlock.

Huskies Fall in Don Lugo Final

By Corey Kwok (Covina) – Chino Hills used a two out, three run shot from Ricky Mount in the third and a complete game effort by pitcher Kevin Sprague to post a 5-1 win over South Hills in the Don Lugo Tournament title game Friday. Both teams came in undefeated.
