The Panthers defense did the rest and actually shut out San Marino. The Titans only score came on a 90 yard kick off return from Davontae Young in the second quarter.

“I think our offensive line wore them down a little bit,” said Rosemead Coach Matt Koffler. “And Matt is a stud on both sides of the ball. He ran the ball well. ”

The game was nearly mistake free. There was only one turnover in the game – a Matt Macias interception of a Garrett Glazier pass in the fourth quarter. That pick led to Fregoso’s one yard run with 8:01 left to put it away.

After a scoreless first quarter, Rosemead put together a ten play 60 yard drive in the second quarter. Fregoso capped it with a 21 yard run for a 7-0 Panther adavntage.

On the ensuing kick off, the Titans got even. Young went right up the gut and broke a couple of tackles on his way to a 90 yard kick off return. It was the only time San Marino had a sniff of the end zone.

In the third quarter, the Panthers marched 81 yards in just five plays. Fregoso performed an encore with another 21 yard TD run. He also put the Mead in position with a 42 yard run down to the Titan 39.

Macias returned the interception all the way back to the San Marino nine yard line in the fourth. Fregoso needed just two plays to score.

Macias, who by the way is also the quarterback, completed 6 of 14 for 65 yards. Andrew Gibson, who occasionally spelled Fregoso, had six carries for 22 yards.

The Rosemead defense held the Titans to less than 100 total yards from scrimmage. Morgan Meyers was the leading ground gainer with 33 yards on 12 carries. San Marino was hurt by the leg injury to Kwame Do, who might be out for the year.

“We really played a talented team in Rowland last week. It was good that we were able to come back. We needed a spark tonight,” Koffler added.

Rosemead improved to 2-1 while San Marino dropped to 2-1 with the defeat. The Titans stay home to play Bell Gardens next week.
