Anthony Carter is on the left <\/p><\/div>\n<p>(Burbank) &#8211; Quarterback Lucas Yanez scored on a one yard run in overtime to give Burroughs a 21-14\u00a0win\u00a0over Arcadia Friday night in Pacific League action. Yanez hit Zander Anding on an 18-yard pass play on the first play in OT to set up the touchdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more-->The Burroughs defense then held\u00a0as Arcadia failed to get a first down.\u00a0Myles Carr&#8217;s pass on fourth down fell incomplete\u00a0to touch off the\u00a0Indians celebration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs picked up the win\u00a0despite numerous penalties through out the contest. Holding calls\u00a0contiuned to bog down the Burroughs offensive attack especially in the second half.\u00a0With the score tied at 14, Matt Volland returned a kick off 90 yards for a touchdown\u00a0only to have it called back due to a holding penalty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The officials were inconsistent,&#8221; said Burroughs Coach\u00a0Keith Knoop. &#8220;But good teams battle through that and we were able to do that tonight. We had to keep fighting and fighting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Neither team scored in the first half but Arcadia did let a golden opportunity slip away in the second quarter. The Apaches marched down to the Burroughs three yard line where they had a first and goal.\u00a0Carr rolled out and fired a pass into the end zone but\u00a0Indian defensive\u00a0back\u00a0Eli Peppmuller picked it off to thwart the drive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was\u00a0 a play\u00a0action pass\u00a0but they did a good job of defending it,&#8221; said Arcadia Coach Jon Dimalante. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t\u00a0execute on offense as well as we should have.\u00a0We shot ourselves in the foot with mistakes and penalties.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia finally did break through early in the third quarter.\u00a0Arcadia marched\u00a057 yards\u00a0in seven plays. Carr hit Taylor\u00a0Lagace on a five yard score to cap it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs responded immediately\u00a0on the ensuing possession. Yanez fired a pass that was deflected by a teammate\u00a0 but bounced right into the hands of tight end\u00a0Nick Brown who outran the Arcadia secondary 67 ayrds for a touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>After Arcadia was stopped, the Indians grabbed the lead.\u00a0Volland caught a short pass\u00a0over the middle and turned it into a 20 yard touchdown as time ran out in the third quarter. Burroughs started\u00a0the drive on its own 33.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia got even late in the fourth\u00a0when\u00a0Carr went in from a yard out.\u00a0Lagace had a 15 yard reception on the drive and John Wong\u00a0grabbed a 14 yard pass from Carr down to the one yard line to set up the tying score.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After Burroughs was forced to punt,\u00a0the Apaches had one more shot in regulation.\u00a0Carr hit Lagace again for 20 yards and they moved the balll down to the Indian 27 with 5 seconds left.\u00a0A.J. Rail then attempted a 44 yard field goal as time ran out but the kick fell short and it was on to OT.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs then won the toss,\u00a0scored and held on for the victory. Yanez threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns while running for one more. His brother, Tyler caught 8 passes for 68 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Lagace had 5 catches for 55 yards for Arcadia. Rodney Arnett rushed for 64 yards on 11 carries.<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs improved to 3-0 in the Pacific while Arcadia dropped to 2-1.
