Photo by Anne Cypress.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A Closer Look at the\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Beginning today we look at the body work, players and projections for each league.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The body work is their win\/loss record and how it holds up against others in the league and Southeast Division. We will look at some of the standout players during the previous week or season. The Mid will also project where they may finish with the remainder of the schedule left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La Serna (6-1, 2-0) \u2013 <\/strong>We heard rumblings of how good the Lancers were going to be this season and have been overly impressed by their season to date.<\/p>\n<p>BODY OF WORK: 25-25 overall record of opponents, 3-0 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n<p>Signature Wins: Wilson-Long Beach (Pac-5) 5-2, La Mirada (Southeast) 4-3<\/p>\n<p>Signature Loss: Downey (Western) 4-3<\/p>\n<p>Games Remaining: \u00a010\/29 @ Pioneer, 11\/05 vs Whittier, 11\/11 @ California (5-16 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n<p>Player of the Week: O.J. Medina \u2013 He scored on a 97-yard run and help lead the route of Santa Fe.<\/p>\n<p>Projection: First<\/p>\n<p><strong>El Rancho (5-2, 1-1) \u2013 <\/strong>Dons got down against Pioneer and still pulled through for the win. El Rancho is still searching for that elusive \u201csignature\u201d win in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>BODY OF WORK: 14-28 overall record of opponents, 1-2 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n<p>Signature Wins: Pioneer (Southeast Division) 4-3<\/p>\n<p>Signature Loss: None<\/p>\n<p>Games Remaining:\u00a0 10\/29 vs. California, 11\/05 @ Santa Fe, 11\/12 vs Whittier (4-17 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n<p>Player of the Week: Daniel Moriel \u2013 setup a touchdown drive with a punt return, along with helping stop Pioneer running back Tony Botello from getting over 100 yards rushing on the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Projection: Second<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santa Fe (4-3, 1-1) \u2013 <\/strong>Good news for Chief fans is the defense. Throw out the 38 point debacle to La Serna and you have a very solid team. Holding Bonita and Charter Oak to less than 21 points is incredible as they are both offensive juggernauts.<\/p>\n<p>BODY OF WORK: 27-23 overall record of opponents, 1-2 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n<p>Signature Wins: Pioneer (Southeast Division)<\/p>\n<p>Signature Loss: Esperanza (Southwest Division) 3-5<\/p>\n<p>Games Remaining:\u00a0 10\/29 @ Whittier, 11\/05 vs. El Rancho 11\/11 @ Pioneer (9-12 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n<p>Player of the Week: Alex Mirola \u2013 was the only bright spot of an offense that struggled all night. Although the offense struggled, Mirola was able to amass over<\/p>\n<p>Projection: Third<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pioneer (4-3, 1-1) \u2013 <\/strong>Dark horse of the Del Rio, probably needs to go 2-1 to get into the playoffs. Problem is that two of three remaining games are against La Serna and Santa Fe.<\/p>\n<p>BODY OF WORK: 17-27 overall record of opponents, 0-3 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n<p>Signature Wins: None<\/p>\n<p>Signature Loss: Sunny Hills (Southwest Division) 4-3<\/p>\n<p>Games Remaining:\u00a0 10\/29 vs. La Serna, 11\/04 @ California, 11\/11 vs. Pioneer (10-11 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n<p>Player of the Week: Tony Botello \u2013 Only had 81 yards rushing for the night, but scored two touchdowns to keep the Titans in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Projection: Fourth<\/p>\n<p><strong>California (1-6, 1-1) \u2013 <\/strong>Don\u2019t count out Jim Arnold\u2019s Condor team out just as his players got valuable game action. California lost too many players last year and needed the experience of varsity football.<\/p>\n<p>BODY OF WORK: 24-26 overall record of opponents, 0-4 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n<p>Signature Wins: None<\/p>\n<p>Signature Loss: None<\/p>\n<p>Games Remaining:\u00a0 10\/29 @El Rancho, 11\/04 vs. Pioneer, 11\/11 vs La Serna (9-6 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n<p>Player of the Week: Aaron Garcia \u2013 The running back had 99 yards and a touchdown in the win against Whittier.<\/p>\n<p>Projection: Fifth<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whittier (0-7, 0-2) \u2013 <\/strong>Walter Scott has had a nightmarish season as they continue to toil with a winless season.
