With the regular season winding down, we decided to take a look at how the leagues are playing out in the Mid-Valley Division. Is this how you thought it would look when the year started? We\u2019ll start with the MVL.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Arroyo (6-1, 2-0<\/strong>) \u2013 Unless something bizarre happens the Knights basically wrapped up the MVL with last week\u2019s win over Rosemead. With Steven Rivera completely healthy, and the defense playing well, everything\u2019s all good at B.L. Bergstrom.<\/p>\n

Body of Work: 22-27 overall record of opponents; 2-1 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: at Gabrielino, at El Monte, Mt. View (10-11 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n

Projection: First<\/p>\n

Rosemead (4-3, 1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 It was a loss for Rosemead but not a bad loss. The Panthers were actually tied with Arroyo late in the third before being done in by interceptions. With Matt Fregoso running hard, Matt Macias throwing the occasional big pass and a hard hitting defense, a playoff spot should be in the offing.<\/p>\n

Body of Work: 20-23 overall record of opponents; 0-1 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: at Mt. View, South El Monte, El Monte (8-13 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n

Projection: Second<\/p>\n

El Monte (3-4, 2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 The Lions are tied for first in the MVL at 2-0. However they\u2019ll have to beat either Rosemead or Arroyo to have an impact on the league and the post season picture. Michael Jimenez is running like a man possessed.<\/p>\n

Body of Work: 33-17 overall record of opponents; 1-4 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: South El Monte, Arroyo, at Rosemead (11-10 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n

Projection: Third<\/p>\n

Mt. View (4-3, 1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 The win over South El Monte last week was the first time in history the Vikings had beaten the Eagles. It\u2019s already been a magical season for the Vikes with a winning record through seven games. They would be in great shape if they could have held on to a 21-9 lead over El Monte in the MVL opener.<\/p>\n

Body of Work: 15-35 overall record of opponents; 0-1 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: Rosemead, Gabrielino, at Arroyo (13-8 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n

Projection: Fourth<\/p>\n

Gabrielino (3-4, 0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 The Eagles had a golden opportunity to jump back in the race last week but let a 12 point fourth quarter lead slip away against El Monte. Gabrielino will have to win out to even have a remote shot at third. And his year third might not be enough.<\/p>\n

Body of Work: 18-31 overall record of opponents; 0-2 against teams with winning records.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: Arroyo, at Mt. View, at South El Monte (11-10 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n

Projection: Fifth<\/p>\n

South El Monte (0-2, 1-6)<\/strong> \u2013 Last year the Eagles struggled early but did enough late to slide into the playoffs. That looks like an impossible task this year. Losses to Arroyo and then to Mt. View in league have left South in a desperate situation. It doesn\u2019t help that the defeat to the Vikings was the first ever for South El Monte.<\/p>\n

Games Remaining: at El Monte, at Rosemead, Gabrielino (10-11 record remaining opponents)<\/p>\n
