Abry Moreno had a good defensive performance for South Hills.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Covina) \u2013 South Hills went scored seven unanswered points in two minutes to defeat Covina 34-31 in the opening round of the Covina Christmas Classic.<\/p>\n

The Huskies battled back with 3:44 remaining after the Colts took its only lead of 27-26 on Marissa Clark\u2019s free-throw.<\/p>\n

Janelle Dryer and Annie Nonu went to work for South Hills scoring the next seven points to take a six point lead with 58 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n

Nonu led all scorers with 19 points and Dryer added eight.<\/p>\n

Early on it appeared the Huskies would run away and hide from Covina racing out to an 11-1 lead before Clark muscled her way to a layup with 2:06 remaining. Both teams found it hard to score for the remainder of the quarter.<\/p>\n

The Colts came out firing in the second quarter to begin to chip-away on the 10-point lead that South Hills enjoyed. Ashli Baddorf would score six of her team high 13 points in the quarter to help Covina claw its way back.<\/p>\n

Baddorf scored at the buzzer to cut the lead to one heading into the halftime break.<\/p>\n

Dryer opened the second half with a three-pointer to extend the lead to four, only to have the Colts battle back and tie the score with 1:34 remaining.<\/p>\n
