Good Afternoon!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always hated the Vikings…but why Minnesota doesn\u2019t take the roof off the Metrodome and fashion it for its football team is beyond me.<\/p>\n

Take the roof off, change the field…its gotta be cheaper than building a new stadium or having your team relocate…After watching Monday Night\u2019s game I was reminded of some difficult NFC Conference finals back in the 1970\u2019s…The Vikings, for their own benefit, need to be outdoors…<\/p>\n

Last Add Minnesota: I\u2019m spending Christmas with my Dad, his third wife, and their family in Santa Clara in 1976. A week before the Rams had gone into Dallas and slugged out a 14-12 win over the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

As a boy of 12 I made it very clear I was going to be watching the NFC Championship game… An older brother and some of the teenage guys in the apartment complex are going to visit a nude beach near Santa Cruz.<\/p>\n

They invite me…and I responded the way any normal boy on the cusp of puberty would: \u201cAre you crazy? The Rams are playing the Vikings! There is no way I\u2019m missing it!\u201d<\/p>\n

After a great opening drive stalls inside the one and Chuck Knox decides to kick a field goal…Minnesota\u2019s Nate Allen blocks the kick and Bobby Bryant returns it for a touchdown. A few hours later Bryant rips my heart out when he intercepts a Pat Haden pass to end a fourth quarter comeback…<\/p>\n

The guys meanwhile comeback as the game ends chanting: Go Vikings!<\/p>\n

Hate isn\u2019t a big enough word for how I feel about the Minnesota Vikings…but I would like to see them play outdoors…<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us at Covina, football is like a disease,\u201d says Covina HC Darryl Thomas. \u201cWe started thinking about the off-season on the bus ride home (from Whittier Christian). We texted back and forth on the Saturday after our loss on things we wanted changed. I made notes of 2011 improvements that weekend also. We called a meeting with returning lettermen the Tuesday after we lost. We won’t really start lifting and running until after winter break. We definitely believe championships are made in the off-season. We want our players to participate in other sports, but also have the football season in back of their minds. Our first contest against the West Covina Bulldogs is only 10 months away….. We have to get ready now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Note to La Salle: Stop the Rio Hondo League fantasy…get out of the league you are in…and petition to be the sixth team in the Olympic League….<\/p>\n

Note to Bosco Tech: If La Salle doesn\u2019t want it…You go for it…<\/p>\n

One or both of these schools belong in the Mid-Valley Division…and the only sport that matters is football…<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you kidding me?\u201d Is the first text message I received from one of our guys at a boys high school game this season. \u201cThis is a nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact this writer went on to say the ball was so bad…the fundamentals so poor…that he thought I was punishing him by assigning the game.<\/p>\n

Josh Lowden has begun his workout regimen for next football season…<\/p>\n

Nope…sorry…UConn\u2019s ladies basketball winning streak could go into the 100\u2019s and it is not comparable to UCLA mens streak of 88…<\/p>\n

…and I\u2019m a USC basketball fan.<\/p>\n

Last Add Covina: The Colts, according to the Mid Valley Sports poll, are viewed by fans as the team with the best chance of dethroning Monrovia in 2011…San Dimas and Maranatha were next…Far down the list was the Arroyo Knights where Steven Rivera will being returning for his 11th season at quarterback.<\/p>\n

Whittier Christian is not too happy with me…<\/p>\n

It will be alright saying \u201cGeorge Frazier\u201d…but it is going to be more fun to say: \u201cG5 went deep to Luke Williams…\u201d next season.<\/p>\n
