(San Marino) \u2013 Emma Wong stole Kristene Hossepian\u2019s inbound pass with sixteen seconds remaining, took two dribbles and buried a three-pointer from the left arc to lead San Marino to a 52-50 win over La Canada.<\/p>\n

For the Titans it was the second time this season that it managed to defeat the Spartans. Both teams are now 1-1 in league.<\/p>\n

The loss for La Canada was its first in the Rio Hondo since 2008-09 basketball Season.<\/p>\n

Early in the fourth quarter San Marino let its nine point lead slip away after the Spartans valiantly battled back and took the lead on Hossepian\u2019s lay-up with 3:27 remaining.<\/p>\n

The Titans made the most of its opportunity from the free-throw line scoring nine of its 14 points in the fourth quarter to stay within striking distance late in the game.<\/p>\n

Christine Law led San Marino with a game-high 17 points with nine coming in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

The final two minutes saw La Canada take a four point lead on the heels of Alexa Barsamian\u2019s rebound and score to make the score 48-44.<\/p>\n

The Spartans also were its worst enemy down the stretch missing crucial free-throws in the final minute and half.<\/p>\n

With 36 seconds remaining, Remi Kohno hit both of her free-throws to give the Titans the lead at 49-48.<\/p>\n

La Canada\u2019s Courtney Chen made two shots from the charity stripe to give the lead back to the Spartans with less than 34 seconds to play.<\/p>\n

Two straight turnovers from San Marino were not capitalized by La Canada which allowed Wong to hit the game-winner.<\/p>\n

Chen made a final heave at the buzzer but it went wide of the basket.<\/p>\n

Chen and Sydney Zarate each had 14 points for the Spartans.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/col>\n<\/colgroup>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
