The Lions managed only three points in the first quarter, and just four in the second, as they fell behind 16-7 at the half.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the kids were just nervous for the league home opener. We shot 2 for 19 in the first half,\u201d said El Monte Coach Eric Tabatabai. \u201cI told them we had good looks it was just a matter of believing they would go in and our defense was going to keep us in it and it did.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yang and Memo Silva each finished with 11 points and helped spearhead a 35 point second half, including 19 in the third.<\/p>\n
Brandon Martinez added 10, Leo Olvera 7, and Casey Lopez 3 as the Lions improved to 1-2 in the MVL.<\/p>\n
