Is it wrong of me to say five years ago I wasn\u2019t watching and had no interest in Kobe Bryant scoring 81 points against Toronto?<\/p>\n

Last Add Kobe: When he was asked about Carmelo Anthony\u2019s situation and defending Anthony\u2019s desire to leave Denver for a winner…I thought I heard him say: \u201cWhen I wanted to leave here, it was because I wanted to win. Until they invested the money to win, I wanted to leave. They were surrounding me with guys like Smush Parker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smush Parker? Poor Smush.<\/p>\n

Can\u2019t go into too many details but Erick Escamilla\u2019s return to the sidelines at The Swamp is not looking good…as of the moment.<\/p>\n

Got two Chalk Talks in the bank. One from Arroyo assistant Kenny Andrew and another from the new OC at Pasadena; the venerable Mike McKay.<\/p>\n

Who does La Canada, now two years removed from the Rocky Moore Era, have slated to play quarterback?<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as quarterback goes it looks like two sophomores,\u201d says LC HC Dan Yoder. \u201cMatt Jones (who filled in at the Arroyo game last year) and Grant Owen, but you never know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sports talk on the radio died a long time ago, recently though I\u2019ve been brought back by ESPN\u2019s Colin Cowherd. The guy spends 90% of his time talking about sports. He also comes at different angles to make you think. He deserves all of the success he has achieved, he is fantastic.<\/p>\n

However…<\/p>\n

He\u2019s sort of gone Tom Jackson on us this week. Jackson, the overly-sensitive-high protector of Donovan McNabb-long time-ESPN football analyst, who put his foot in his mouth last weekend when he said he picked New England to beat New York to motivate the Jets.<\/p>\n

Cowherd has been picking against Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers all along, and has ended up looking bad. Now the Chicago Bears are the worst team since the Super Bowl 14 Rams with a chance to win it all.<\/p>\n

So when the Bears beat the Packers, then the Packers weren\u2019t very good. When the Packers beat the Bears, then the Bears weren\u2019t very good.<\/p>\n

I can appreciate slithering on and off bandwagons (it’s a chief delight of writing sports), and practing a little CYA…but I would expect Cowherd, with his skills, to be better at it and\u00a0Tom Jackson to be a little less obvious…<\/p>\n

This would be like me walking up to Ryan Maddox after a football game and saying: \u201cI picked San Dimas to beat you guys because I was trying to motivate you.\u201d<\/p>\n

…Now I that I think of it…I believe Villathedevil has done stuff like this.<\/p>\n

Final Note Cowherd: Hombre, if you are going to talk about former Los Angeles Rams HC Ray Malavasi falling asleep during a radio interview, you have to get right who the announcer was interviewing him. It wasn\u2019t Jim Healy, it was Robert W. Morgan. Healy is the one who made the tape famous by playing it over and over again on his show.<\/p>\n

Last Add Healy: If you never heard Healy, all I can tell you is that sports talk on radio now is largely of the horseshoe variety…And I\u2019m not making it up paly…<\/p>\n
