Woke up this morning and found out I was nominated for Best Picture…of course so were you, but I knew my day would come.<\/p>\n

If I\u2019m the President of the United States and I have an unsolvable situation; I\u2019m calling Ben Roethlisberger.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not big on Dwight Howard coming to the Lakers…Then again I wasn\u2019t big on Shaq, or on the trading of Junior Bridgeman, Dave Meyers, and Brian Winters for Kareem Abdul Jabbar…and I\u2019ve never gotten over Jim McMillan for Elmore Smith…<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always been a Walt Wesley kind of guy…<\/p>\n

Last Add: Colin Cowherd went off this morning about how bad Cleveland was because LeBron was all they had. Fair statement. He said Chicago was still competitive after Jordan left the first time. The Magic were still competitive after Shaq left…true…But then he said the Milwaukee Bucks were still competitive after Jabbar left…\u201dIn fact they were better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Note on Jabbar: Just for the record, just so history is clear…The Bucks picked up a lot of good players from the Lakers in the TRADE for Jabbar. It was a trade. Jabbar did not leave as a free agent.<\/p>\n

It is petty, but these are the things that bug me.<\/p>\n

While the search will continue, most likely through February, for a new football HC at San Marino, Titan running back Kwame Do is getting healthy. The senior-to-be says his rehabilitation from last season\u2019s knee injury is going well and will be more than good to go come spring.<\/p>\n

Connected with former Burroughs standout Kohl Adams-Hurd, who is playing defensive back at Humboldt State. Hurd was the only freshman on the 2010 squad not redshirted as he filled in as a third safety in third-and-long situations.<\/p>\n

“We have a couple of seniors and a sophomore.\u00a0I will give you more information in the next few weeks,\u201d says West Covina HC Mike Maggiore about replacing George Johnson at quarterback. \u201cIt is definitely a concern but we like the guys that we have and think whoever it is will do a solid job.\u00a0George Johnson was and is a winner,\u00a0 he consistantly\u00a0made big plays and really didnt get alot of credit. He was a perfect fit for us and we will miss him, there is no replacing a kid with that much experience and toughness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last Add West Covina: The only player on the Bulldogs roster who has thrown a pass, and is returning, is Chris Solomon. One pass…one completion.<\/p>\n

The ScanWife had a photo go into the hard copy last week where some of the interns saw it and immediately said: \u201cThat\u2019s the ScanWife? Wow, Scanlan did well…\u201d<\/p>\n

Trinity International University, thirty minutes outside of Chicago, have offered Whittier Christian stars Stephen Anderson (QB), Cam Stanley (WR), and Tim Sanchez (LB).<\/p>\n

The “Southern California All Sports Clinic” was held at the Hyatt in Irvine this past weekend. Basically a convention for all sports the vast majority of the exhibits are geared towards football; books, dvds, uniforms, and equipment.<\/p>\n

The seminar topics ranged from schemes on offense and defense, program philosophy, position specific technique, drills, and special teams.<\/p>\n

Essentially it’s a wealth of knowledge.<\/p>\n

Dick Vermeil (without crying) served as the featured speaker…He rambled a bit, but heck it\u2019s Dick Vermeil…I believe he has one more Super Bowl ring than most of us.<\/p>\n

Some of the other speakers were heavy hitters at the high school level. Jim Kunau (Orange Lutheran), Troy Thomas (Servite), Brian Barnes (Tesoro), and Steve Bogan (South Hills).<\/p>\n

A lot of area staffs were there; Monrovia, Whittier Christian, Covina, Arroyo, Valley Christian, West Covina, La Serna, Diamond Bar, San Gabriel, and Cantwell.<\/p>\n

Not a place for interviews but very interesting.<\/p>\n

The Mid Valley Draft is where individuals take on the role of General Manager for an NFL team and draft players out of the Mid-Valley and Southeast Divisions to fill the franchises specific needs\u2026<\/p>\n

A winner is declared and allowed to pillage the surrounding countryside\u2026<\/p>\n

Draft will be held the Tuesday after the Super Bowl (Feb. 8).<\/p>\n
