Rachel Albright is a workhorse for La Salle.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wish Spring Break could hit all teams at the same time.<\/p>\n

The next two weeks will see an abbreviated schedule with more than half of the schools heading into the Spring Break. The remainder will have already taken the vacation this week or the following week.<\/p>\n

IS A HAIR BAND REALLY JEWELRY?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Can someone explain why jewelry is not allowed for softball?<\/p>\n

Let me state the following, totally understand that earrings, nose rings, and lip rings can be hazardous to a player. Bracelets and necklaces can be an annoyance to a batter or pitcher.<\/p>\n

But for the life of me can\u2019t understand how a hair band on a wrist is a problem. This occurred the other day during the Bishop Amat-La Salle game. The umpire decided enough was enough and tossed a girl for having a hair band accessory on her wrist.<\/p>\n

The \u201cblue\u201d in question stated he gave the team a warning and the girl (who just came in to pitch) didn\u2019t heed his request so she got the thumb.<\/p>\n

My opinion: It\u2019s a dumb rule.<\/p>\n

LANCER IRON WOMAN
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Much has been written during the last few weeks about young pitchers throwing too many innings.<\/p>\n

Rachel Albright has not missed a start in 13 games and has thrown 85 innings. Albright is a sophomore who will either get better or will suffer from a dead-arm by the end of the season. Let\u2019s hope she gets better.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Albright pitched her first no-hitter this season by shutting down Arcadia.<\/p>\n

IS OLYMPIC BEST?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

If you read the Top 25<\/a>, you might have noticed that the Olympic League currently has four teams in the rankings.<\/p>\n

So with the fact that 80% of the league is playing well can an argument be made that it\u2019s the toughest league.<\/p>\n

Whittier Christian is the reigning champ with arguably the best player not on the disabled list in Mandie<\/span> Perez.<\/p>\n

Maranatha in its first season in the Olympic is bolstered by Lauren Cruz\u2019s .538 batting average, while Annie Sommers recuperates from injury.<\/p>\n

Village Christian definitely has the best pitcher with Emily Siedel.<\/p>\n

Valley Christian does it with smoke and mirrors as they try to find a way to get on a long winning streak.<\/p>\n

STRIKE OUT AGAINST CANCER<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Circle your calendars, put it in ink. April 15th<\/sup> is the second annual La Canada Spartans Strike out against Cancer game.<\/p>\n

This season it is appropriate that the game pits La Canada\u2019s Lauren O\u2019Leary against San Marino\u2019s Michelle Floyd. The game is scheduled for a 7pm night game.<\/p>\n

There will be an opportunity to donate during the game.<\/p>\n

The Spartans will be wearing pink and white and the Titans will wear the reverse colors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
