(San Marino) \u2013 Still in the hunt for the league championship, San Marino gained some momentum into the league race, avenging an earlier loss to Monrovia with a 4-0 victory.<\/p>\n
All four runs came in the first inning.<\/p>\n
Michelle Floyd recorded the games first RBI, hitting a single which brought Courtney Johnson in for the score. With one out, Raquel Edmonds\u2019 single loaded the bases with Titans.<\/p>\n
The Lady Cats only made their situation worse.<\/p>\n
Emily Orozco walked Caitlyn Callahan, which brought Erin Stonewall home for a score. Sami Ortega and Stephanie Garcia committed consecutive errors, allowing two more San Marino base runners to cross the plate.<\/p>\n
Kelly Williams helped Monrovia get out of a jam in the third inning recording all three outs. Williams tagged out Allison Lee at home and caught two pop fouls to end the Titan threat.<\/p>\n
San Marino also had the opportunity to score in the fourth. With two on and one out, the Lady Cats intentionally walked Floyd to load the bases.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe could\u2019ve taken advantage of more situations,\u201d said Titans coach Hilda Valencia. \u201cWe loaded up the bases many times and we actually didn\u2019t produce as many runs as we hoped.\u201d<\/p>\n
Freshman pitcher Adrienne Guerra was brought in to relieve Orozco and only allowed one hit in two innings.<\/p>\n
Monrovia squandered chances to get to Floyd in the first and second inning only to have Floyd bear down to stop any threats.<\/p>\n
Floyd finished with 9 strikeouts and allowed only two hits.<\/p>\n
