As much as character is talked about in a person and athlete it seems quite disturbing when a young star in the making doesn’t get his just deserts.
\nBefore you scratch your head.\u00a0 Hear me out.<\/p>\n
On November 25, 2007, Jamar Evans fatally gunned down Marcus Reasons in Chester Township, NJ.\u00a0 Evans was in a car when this took place.<\/p>\n
Still scratching?\u00a0 Just listen.<\/p>\n
If it weren’t for the driver of the car Jamar was in, it wouldn’t be disturbing.\u00a0 The driver in question was Tyreke Evans.\u00a0 Ring a bell?<\/p>\n
For those who are indifferent about the NBA, Tyreke was the fourth pick in this year’s draft.\u00a0 He played one year at Memphis.<\/p>\n
Now does it sound worse?<\/p>\n
So a young man who had two jobs was killed by Tyreke’s cousin and the getaway car was driven by Tyreke.<\/p>\n
What does Tyreke get?\u00a0 Some spending cash and chance to prove he belongs with the NBA’s elite.<\/p>\n
He doesn’t have to do anytime for being the one in the car with Jamar or taking off once the shooting took place.<\/p>\n
He gets to play.\u00a0 The family of the man murdered gets to grieve.<\/p>\n
Why do I bring this up now?<\/p>\n
Wouldn’t you like to ask where the justice is.\u00a0 Why did he get off and not pay a price.\u00a0 Better yet, if it was your child, parent, family member or friend killed in cold blood, would you want Tyreke playing in the NBA or playing one year in the NCAA?<\/p>\n
I wouldn’t.<\/p>\n
To make matters worse, Jamar gets nine to 20 years in prison with a eight-year probation.\u00a0 When he is out, Jamar will move in with Tyreke.<\/p>\n
So much for a character pick in the four slot for the Sacramento Kings.<\/p>\n
