Gano and Sanchez both went 3-for-4 in the game.

The Matadores shocked Tesoro with a win in the first round, thanks enparte to Lisa Perez’s homer and 2-for-4 game. Jenavive Torres received credit for the win for La Mirada.

DIVISION 3

Highland at St. Lucy’s – Danielle O’Toole pitched a complete-game shutout for the Regents. St. Lucy’s won a wild one in the wild card and then showed they can win tight close games by defeating Burroughs 1-0. Laura Swan and Brandi Harkness each add some pop for the Regents with three homers.

The Bulldogs present a tough matchup for St. Lucy’s as they must contend with power-hitters Emily Sanchez and Marissa Sanchez who have combined for 22 of the teams 35 homers. Aryn Feickert is the go-to pitcher for Highland with a total of 19 wins.

La Serna at St. Joseph – The Lancers quite possibly face the best pitcher in the Southern Section in Maxine Rodriguez. Not much pop in the Jesters lineup but they do bat well as a team with Allyson Painter leading the team in batting.

A.J. Carrasco blasted a three-run homer in the win over La Reina in the opening round. Jackie Valdez also led the way with a 4-for-4 game with three runs batted in. Nikki Oviedo earned the win in the first round.

South Hills at Lakeside – Brittany Rodriguez went 3-for-4 and batted in two runs while Sydney La Follete helped her cause in the circle with a 4-for-4 hitting performance. The one thing that makes the Huskies dangerous is its ability to score runs from anywhere in the lineup.

Jasmine Smithson-willet will pose problems for the run happy South Hills offense as she has an ERA of 1.29 for the season. Austen Urness provides the offensive punch for Lakeside with nine homers.

Oak Park at Bishop Amat – Natalie Sanchez and Katie Cunningham led the way for the Lancers to advance to the second round with a 3-0 win over Paramount. Sanchez has not given up a run in 21 innings heading into Tuesday.

The Eagles ruined a marquee matchup of Crescenta Valley and Bishop Amat with an opening round win over the Falcons. Morgan Schlobohm is the best hitter for Oak Park with 41 hits this season. Morgan Simmons has 15 wins in 2011.

DIVISION 4

Ocean View at San Dimas – Courtney Hine and Julia Lupercio played a huge part in the Saints win on Thursday over Palm Desert. Elizabeth Celaya pitched another good game in the win allowing just one run and striking out three.

Brittany Hitchcock will be the player San Dimas needs to keep an eye with her 38 hits this season. Toby Salzman leads the Sea Hawks in homers. Ocean View has won six of its last seven games.

Dos Pueblos at Whittier Christian – Big game for Mandie Perez with a double and going 2-for-2 and two runs scored in the win over Sunny Hills. The Heralds have won three straight. Bekah Kikuchi pitched a stellar opening round game.

Hannah Harris will have to pitch a lights out game to stop Whittier Christian. Harris heading into the game has a 1.18 ERA with 191 strike outs on the season.

Troy at Valley Christian – The Crusaders upset the proverbial apple cart in beating Apple Valley in the first round. Ashley Oxley and McKenzie Goff lead the team in hitting. Valley Christian needed to win a wild card game just to get into the main bracket.

The Warriors played spoilers as well in its opening round win over Rancho Alamitos.

DIVISION 5

La Canada at Hemet – Lauren O’Leary has been pitching unbelievably all season and continued with her second-straight no-hitter. After nine days off, six different batters got into the hit parade against Ramona Convent with two hits apiece.

Props to the Bulldogs who traveled all the way to Morro Bay to advance to the second round of the playoffs thanks to Cheyenne Gandara’s pitching performance. Mackenzie Miller and Taylor Vanzee have been hitting well over .400 for the season.

Keppel at Katella – Shanee Medina and Cecily Ramirez lead the Aztecs in most offensive categories. Medina will need to have her best stuff to stop Katella.

As a team the Knights bat .408 with Melissa Zuniga leading the team with a .506 average. Heather Salibury leads the team in pitching wins with 12.

Alhambra/Duarte at South El Monte (depending on protest ruling) – Denise Gonzalez is the reason the Moors are in a position to move into the quarterfinals. Gonzalez’s clutch hit in the wild card allowed Alhambra to advance where they upset Duarte.

If Duarte is allowed to advance via the “illegal batting practice” protest, they will have to rebound from the loss on the field to Alhambra. Kaysie Gatlin will need to pitch her best game against a hot hitting Eagles team.

Wild win for South El Monte ladies as they scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning for the upset of West Valley. Julissa Castellanos led the Eagles with a 3-for-5 game with two RBI’s.

Savanna at Azusa – Veronica Ramirez is the real deal and helped the Aztecs advance to the second round of the playoffs. Offensively look for Alyssa Gonzalez and Olivia Rosales try and get Azusa on track early against Savanna.

The Rebels defeated Montebello in the first round. Casey Snooks and Kanoa Smith each had three hits against the Oilers in its win. Ariel Hernandez has a 1.28 ERA and 13 wins.

San Marino at Arroyo – Best pitching matchup of the second round for the Mid with Michelle Floyd facing Jaclyn Wagner. This game could end up 1-0, with either team advancing.

Alexis Watanabe is the catalyst for the Titans and will need to get on base to cause havoc against the Lady Knights.

Paige Medina could be the difference for Arroyo as she has been leading the team with five homers.

DIVISION 6

Flintridge Prep at Rim of the World – The Rebels must head up to the mountains for a second round match against Rim of the World. Ashley Kim leads Flintridge Prep in batting.

Paraclete at Rio Hondo Prep – Hayley Murphy and Kalli Bray help lead the Kares in hitting while Charley Parker in the circle is pitching well.
