SUPER REGIONAL REPORT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

After Josh Lowden\u2019s story on Baillie Kirker, decided to see what other former local players are heading to OKC or were in the Super Regional in the NCAA tourney.<\/p>\n

Kathryn Poet (Missouri) \u2013 Played at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. Now is heading to the College World Series.<\/p>\n

Julie Ward (Oklahoma St) \u2013 After starring at St. Lucy\u2019s, Ward is batting .325 with 11 homers. She is a big reason why the Cowgirls (yes, the Cowgirls) will be playing up the road from Stillwater.<\/p>\n

Reina Gaber (Houston) \u2013 Helped lead South El Monte to a semifinal finish in 2009 where they lost to La Salle. Gaber played the designated player position during the Super Regionals.<\/p>\n

Amy Bishop (California) \u2013 Was a four-year Pacific League team member when she played with Glendale. She has not had much playing time with the Golden Bears. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

GOT THE WORD<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As always, if it isn\u2019t \u201cofficial\u201d we won\u2019t run with it. So when we got word from a poster that Michelle Floyd had verbally committed to Arizona we hadn\u2019t announced it.<\/p>\n

Well now we can safely state that Floyd has committed to the Wildcats program.<\/p>\n

Floyd\u2019s season ended against Arroyo in the second round, but her stats were impressive with 222 strikeouts and a miniscule 0.78 ERA this season.<\/p>\n

Opposing batters still have two more seasons of having to face Floyd\u2019s fastball.<\/p>\n

To the teams that are involved in this week\u2019s semifinals.<\/p>\n

With all the returning players for La Canada and South Hills it isn\u2019t surprising they are heading to the final four in its divisions.<\/p>\n

Bishop Amat\u2019s turnaround season is truly remarkable. Jesse Mendez has done a great job with the Lancers.<\/p>\n

Arroyo and South El Monte are the \u201clittle teams that could\u201d as the Mission Valley League teams moved up a division and have made it to the semifinals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
