\nThese are words that a I often don’t throw around in any sport.<\/p>\n
On both coasts, two fillies are doing what they can to save the Sport of Kings.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, watching Rachel Alexandra demolish two other fillies in the Mother Goose Stakes harken back to the days of Spectacular Bid’s sterling walk-over in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.<\/p>\n
The fact she did it with such ease was awe inspiring.<\/p>\n
The 19 lengths was the largest margin of victory in the race.\u00a0 She eclipsed Ruffians 13 lengths in 1975.<\/p>\n
She has won seven straight.\u00a0 It gives me goose bumps when I watched it.<\/p>\n
To say she is one of the best ever, might not be to far fetched.<\/p>\n
Twenty-minutes later at Hollywood Park, Zenyatta needed a late burst to defeat Briecat and Dawn After Dawn in the stretch to extend her unbeaten streak to 11 in the Vanity Handicap.<\/p>\n
What made Zenyatta’s race impressive wasn’t how many lengths she won by, it was the fact she was giving 13 to 19 pounds to her competitors.<\/p>\n
So basically its like Joe Torosian running against Tim Peterson to see who will get to the buffet line first.\u00a0 No contest who wins that one.<\/p>\n
Both fillies are quite professional and at this point in their careers are much better than any male counterpart.<\/p>\n
The owners know how important their fillies are for the survival of the sport.<\/p>\n
So for now we watch and wait to see if both fillies end up meeting down the line.<\/p>\n
