Well I learned a few important things late Thursday afternoon at Arroyo watching the Knights, Alhambra, Diamond Bar and Azusa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16997\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16997\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16997\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Arroyo-4-way-6-23-11-005-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16997\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diamond Bar quarterback Henry Omana<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I learned that Alhambra is planning on opening up the offense a little more. Now that\u00a0Josh\u00a0Mendoza is entering his second full year at starter\u00a0the Moor coaching staff\u00a0suggested that\u00a0they are ready to let him air it out.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17000\" style=\"width: 404px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17000\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17000\" title=\"June 24 2010 007\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-007-394x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17000\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alhambra and Diamond Bar compete<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I learned that Diamond Bar&#8217;s \u00a0Henry\u00a0Omana definitely passes the eye test.\u00a0He&#8217;s a big kid with\u00a0a gun for an arm and seems poised to lead the Brahmas to a special season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I learned\u00a0that Jake Martinez\u00a0is Azusa&#8217;s starting quarterback\u00a0but as ususal\u00a0he won&#8217;t be the only one back there. &#8220;You know me. I play a lot of guys,&#8221; said Azusa Coach Joe Scherf.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17001\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17001\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17001\" title=\"June 24 2010 004\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-004-400x292.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17001\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Getting a little physical in passing league<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I learned that sometimes (all the time?) passing leagues get physical. There were several big hits\u00a0in the Diamond Bar- Arroyo toss &#8211; several which looked like outright tackles. Note to Steven Rivera: We like\u00a0the defense\u00a0(another pick)\u00a0but it would behoove you and the entire Arroyo Knight\u00a0program to avoid a\u00a0shoulder\u00a0injury in the middle of June.<\/p>\n<p>I learned that former Alhambra standout wide receiver\u00a0Mitchell Crockom has a nephew, cousin\u00a0(or some kind of relative) on this year&#8217;s roster. His name is Frank Essien and he&#8217;s big tall and athletic and plays receiver.\u00a0He made a nice catch of a Mendoza pass.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes\u00a0he definitely has the size and\u00a0look of a receiver,&#8221; said Moor DC\u00a0Jacob Ochoa. &#8220;We like his potential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the\u00a0defense is ahead of the offense right now.\u00a0But it&#8217;s hard to tell out here because we&#8217;re just back pedaling. Our defense is all about rushing in and applying pressure,&#8221; Ochoa added.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17002\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-016.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17002\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17002\" title=\"June 24 2010 016\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/June-24-2010-016-400x272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17002\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">River and Frederico play some defense<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I learned that Brandon Jauregui still isn&#8217;t playing. Oh he&#8217;s fine and everything it&#8217;s just\u00a0that he digs baseball. &#8220;He&#8217;s in Arizona playing baseball. He won&#8217;t be here for the Bonita tournament either,&#8221; said Arroyo Coach Jim Singiser.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most\u00a0talented high school athletes are two or three sport guys\u00a0anyway so if Jauregui is that good to play\u00a0in this many baseball tournaments he should be\u00a0well worth\u00a0the wait in football.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oh and most importantly I learned that Arroyo OC Chris MacMillan almost didn&#8217;t make it back from Vegas.\u00a0&#8220;I had the AC\u00a0running in the Van the whole time and I guess I wasn&#8217;t supposed to do that,&#8221; MacMillan said. &#8220;I got home about 2:30\u00a0but there was a time when I thought the Van was going to break down.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(El Monte) &#8211; What do you lean from\u00a0a four way toss\u00a0in June?
