(El Monte) – Arroyo, Alhambra,\u00a0Maranatha,\u00a0SGV Shootout Champion Diamond Bar and Schurr tossed it around behind B.L. Bergstom\u00a0Stadium on Thursday. It’s become as common\u00a0as the morning sunrise to see teams\u00a0thowing at Arroyo but as long as I got a camera I’ll be there.<\/p>\n

Schurr HC Ben Negrete <\/p><\/div>\n

I did finally\u00a0get to see Schurr and talked to Spartan Coach Ben Negrete about life without Aaron Cantu. Edgar Jimenez is the guy to fill Cantu’s shoes and has\u00a0been doing exactly what\u00a0Negrete and staff have wanted. “He’s a senior and he’s come up through\u00a0the program. He’s earned that position,” Negrete said. \u00a0“He struggled a little early and we talked to him and told him what we expected and\u00a0he’s responded well.”<\/p>\n

Maranatha\u00a0Coach Pete Karavedes called me the “road dog.”\u00a0I’ll take that as a complement. I walked up just as Andrew Elfers was firing a long touchdown pass – a thing of beauty.\u00a0“Oh you just got here? Yeah that’s\u00a0what we’ve been doing everytime. We haven’t dropped any passes or anything. We look great,” Karavedes said.<\/p>\n
