{"id":18328,"date":"2011-09-16T22:07:20","date_gmt":"2011-09-17T05:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=18328"},"modified":"2011-09-17T12:01:48","modified_gmt":"2011-09-17T19:01:48","slug":"covina-52-el-monte-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=18328","title":{"rendered":"Colts Pick Lions Apart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By George Hernandez<\/p>\n<p>(El Monte)- Billy Livingston put on a clinic throwing for five touchdowns in Covina&#8217;s 52-10 win over El Monte Friday night at Lions Stadium.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Lions started off strong holding the Colts to a punt on their first drive.<\/p>\n<p>El Monte&#8217;s first play of the game went for 35-yards when Brandon Martinez hit a leaping Memo Silva and they finished it off with a 36-yard field goal from Bryan Luevano to take a 3-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>It didn&#8217;t last long.<\/p>\n<p>Covina\u00a0warmed up; the Colts\u00a0scored 38 unanswered points, starting with a 1-yard touchdown run from Vinny Venegas. Just two minutes later still in the first quarter Livingston hit Justin Mason for a 78-yard score to take a 14-3 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Far from finished the Colts picked off a Martinez pass and Livingston found a wide open Gevontray Ainsworth and he scampered to paydirt from 60-yards out.<\/p>\n<p>After another Martinez interception, Livingston just a minute later hit Venegas for a 23-yard score at 10:21 of the second quarter to make it 28-3.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts scored two more times before the end of the first half. Darren Torres hit a 21-yard field goal and with zeros coming on the clock Livingston went to work again when he found Mason again from 45-yards out to make it 38-3 at the half.<\/p>\n<p>The second half was much of the same as Livingston threw his fifth touchdown pass of the game midway through the third quarter when he hit Venegas on a slant for a 19-yard score.<\/p>\n<p>With Livingston on the bench back-up Daniel Sifuentes got in on the action when he hit Torres for a 24-yard score to cap off the scoring for the Colts making it 52-3.<\/p>\n<p>El Monte&#8217;s Frank Lopez wasn&#8217;t ready to pack it up he ran back the kick return 80-yards for a Lions score making it 52-10.<\/p>\n<p>Livingston finished with 287-yards, 5-touchdowns while going 13 of 18. Venegas and Ainsworth finished with 261 total yards, while Mason had 3-catches for 138-yards and 2-touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>On defense Andrew Carrillo, David Gonazalez and Torres all had picks for the Colts. Peter De La Cruz and Nick Hynes chipped in with a sack each.<\/p>\n<p>El Monte will head to Gladstone next week looking to get back on track.
