Is Peterson good luck or bad luck when covering Arroyo? <\/p><\/div>\n

Bad Karma, Good Karma<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m thinking I bring Arroyo bad karma. Last year I covered the Knights in the third game of the season against Montebello. Steven Rivera went down to injury and Eddie Federico was pressed into action.<\/p>\n

Last Friday night I went out to see them at La Canada. Peter Aholoka fumbled the opening kick off out of bounds, and less than a minute into the game he is tackled in the end zone for a safety. The Knights miss tackles, miss assignments and stumble on offense and before you know it it\u2019s 21-7 La Canada.<\/p>\n

But last year Federico throws a couple of late touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and Arroyo survives 12-8. Against LC, Rivera found Hunter Duran for a pair of scores, Aholoka got rolling on the ground and Arroyo rallied for a 23-21 win. On second thought maybe I\u2019m good luck.<\/p>\n

Rivera Gets Defensive<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to tell Arroyo Coach Jim Singiser not to play Rivera on defense when he keeps making big plays. Earlier this year he made a play on the goal line to save a win over Montebello and against La Canada he intercepted a pass and recovered a Spartan fumble late in the game to ice the victory.<\/p>\n

Aloha Aholoka! <\/strong><\/p>\n

Aholoka\u2019s play on the opening kick off wasn\u2019t pretty. \u201cYou don\u2019t fumble the opening kick off,\u201d Singiser said. But you have to give the kid credit for battling back to have a great game. He rushed for 156 yards and was instrumental in the win. He gives the Knights a balanced attack to go with Rivera.<\/p>\n

I was picking Arroyo and Rosemead in the MVL back in July and I\u2019m picking them now. The two will butt heads October 28 at Rosemead.<\/p>\n

Another Matt Making His Mark\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mead\u2019s Matt Eddy is spelling another Matt (Fregoso) pretty well. He has rushed for 386 yards in the last two games and has 553 overall and seven touchdowns. The Panthers have 684 rushing yards total compared to 478 passing. Arroyo on the other hand likes to air it out. The Knights have 1545 yards passing compared to 579 rushing. Aholoka has 395.<\/p>\n

All Saints All Day <\/strong><\/p>\n

If you noticed the San Dimas-Nogales game story the other night you saw a picture of four San Dimas running backs. Adam Casillas, Donald Wallace, Dominic Jollevette and Dillon Corona are the four shown and they put a hurtin\u2019 on the Nobles. What\u2019s really scary is that the Saints also have Jake Payton, Devante Brown and Andrew Espinoza to run the ball. All three of those guys could start at another school. Late in the fourth quarter in garbage time, Denzel Mitchell came in and did a nice job. That\u2019s eight players who are not just capable backs but explosive backs. It also doesn\u2019t hurt to run behind bubbas like Alec Zenner, Erik Montoya and Lucas Darling. San Dimas\u2019 total rushing yards? 1766!<\/p>\n

Mustangs Saddled <\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s way too early to say Muir is done but at 0-2 in the Pacific and with Burroughs and Burbank still on the schedule it doesn\u2019t look good. Combine that with the suspension of Head Coach Ken Howard, who has been put on administrative leave, and the Mustangs are in a tough situation. On the bright side Hoover and Glendale are on the docket in the next two weeks.<\/p>\n

Pacific Numbers <\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking of the Pacific did you see some of the numbers put up in the Pasadena- Glendale game? In a 47-46 Bulldog win, Pasadena quarterback Brandon Cox threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns while running for 90 yards and three scores. Riian Simpson caught nine Cox passes for over 200 yards.<\/p>\n

For Glendale Evan Norton passed for 442 yards and receiver Michael Davis had 12 receptions for nearly 250 yards. Alex Yoon scored three times and rushed for 100 and hauled in nine catches for 120 yards. Maybe it\u2019s not so good for the Mustangs that they will see the Nitros in two weeks.<\/p>\n
