San Gabriel<\/strong> (3-4) at Bell Gardens (2-5) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Bell Gardens 37-35 <\/strong><\/p>\n

After a non league struggle San Gabriel has gotten well with two straight wins in league. The Mats offense has come back to life. Bell Gardens had a couple of nice wins early but has hit the skids the last two weeks.<\/p>\n

San Gabriel should be able to outscore the Lancers even if the defense doesn\u2019t make stops. BG was shut out two weeks ago by 1-6 Schurr.<\/p>\n

San Gabriel stays perfect in the Almont.<\/p>\n

San Gabriel<\/strong> 24 Bell Gardens 10 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Alhambra<\/strong> (6-1) at Montebello (3-4) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Montebello 17-7 <\/strong><\/p>\n

This could be a one of those so called \u201ctrap\u201d games for Alhambra. Record wise the Moors should have no problem. But if they take the Oilers lightly they could get bit.<\/p>\n

Montebello has beaten a quality team in Rosemead and also gave Arroyo fits earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Alhambra\u2019s defense has been solid but the offense still has a few things to work out. Maybe we\u2019ll see more of Sebastian Espinoza.<\/p>\n

Alhambra does enough for the W.<\/p>\n

Mission<\/strong> Valley<\/strong> League <\/strong><\/p>\n

Gabrielino (3-4) at El Monte (5-2) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: El Monte 31-19 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Lions are on a roll. They\u2019re 2-0 in the MVL and have their sights firmly set on a league title. The Eagles desperately need a win to stay afloat.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t even a trap game. El Monte comes out and takes care of business early. It could be over by halftime.<\/p>\n

El Monte<\/strong> 41 Gabrielino 6 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Arroyo (6-1) at Rosemead (4-3) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Arroyo 35-21 <\/strong><\/p>\n

All-Time: Arroyo 34-18 <\/strong><\/p>\n

This one is not necessarily for the league title since Rosemead already fell to El Monte but don\u2019t underestimate it. It\u2019s still huge.<\/p>\n

For Rosemead a win would keep them right in the mix in the MVL and on track for at least second place. A loss could knock them out of playoff contention in the Mid-Valley Division.<\/p>\n

Arroyo of course needs the victory to stay on track for an undefeated league run. The Knights have had their struggles at times but they usually find a way to win. Steven Rivera and company can score enough points.<\/p>\n

Rosemead will pound it with Matt Eddy but if the ground attack isn\u2019t working the Panthers could be in trouble.<\/p>\n

Arroyo wins it in fourth.<\/p>\n

Mt.<\/strong> View (3-4) at South El Monte (5-2) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Mt. View 21-7 <\/strong><\/p>\n

All-Time: South El Monte 16-1 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Mt. View made history last year by beating South El Monte for the first time ever. This year the Vikes have been exposed a little bit since league started.<\/p>\n

South is still in the hunt for a playoff spot and a win here would keep that hope alive. The Eagles are a much different team than last year\u2019s edition. They should have no trouble in dispatching the Vikes. View might hang around but ultimately the Southmen get it done.<\/p>\n

South El Monte<\/strong> 27 Mt. View 10 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Olympic League <\/strong><\/p>\n

Maranatha (6-1) at Valley Christian (3-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Valley Christian 70-64 (5 OT) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Maranatha\u2019s thoughts of an undefeated season came crashing down last week in a 24-21 loss to Whittier Christian. Valley Christian ran up 58 points on LA Baptist but did allow 32.<\/p>\n

Last season this was game of the year as the two teams combined for 134 points in a five overtime Valley victory. We probably won\u2019t see five OTs again but it does look like another shootout. This time the Minutemen come out on top.<\/p>\n

Maranatha 42 Valley Christian 31 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Rio<\/strong> Hondo League <\/strong><\/p>\n

Monrovia<\/strong> (4-3) at San Marino (5-2) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Monrovia 56-0<\/p>\n

Both teams come in at 2-0 and both have beaten up Blair.\u00a0 The Wildcats have outscored their last two opponents 95-2 while the Titans survived Temple City last week after crushing Blair two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Monrovia played a tough non league schedule just for this purpose. The Cats wanted to be ready to go in the Rio and won\u2019t take their foot off the pedal until they hit the finish line. San Marino might get one but Monrovia will get everything else.<\/p>\n

Monrovia<\/strong> 42 San Marino 7 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Temple City<\/strong> (0-7) at La Canada (1-6) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Temple City 27-15 <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is game is rare just for the fact that these teams are never this far down. It felt strange even typing 0-7 next to Temple City. But that\u2019s the reality of it and both sides are desperate for a victory.<\/p>\n

TC gave San Marino a scare last week but came up short. La Canada had Arroyo by two scores earlier this year before collapsing in the end. This might sound clich\u00e9 but neither team is as bad as their records indicate.<\/p>\n

It will come down to who makes the least mistakes. It will be a battle but the Rams finally get a win.<\/p>\n

Temple City<\/strong> 20 La Canada 17 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Valle Vista League\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

San Dimas<\/strong> (5-2) at Baldwin Park (2-5) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Baldwin Park 19-14 <\/strong><\/p>\n

San Dimas reeled off five straight victories before falling to Covina last week. The Saints are not only the second best team in the Valle Vista but also the second best team in the Mid-Valley Division right now. It\u2019s been a struggle for Baldwin Park this year. The Braves are 0-3 in the Valle Vista and probably need to win out to have even a remote shot at the playoffs. That\u2019s much easier said than done.<\/p>\n

San Dimas\u2019 run game will be too much for Baldwin Park. Plus the Braves don\u2019t have the weapons of a Covina to counter the Saints attack. Saints win big.<\/p>\n

Covina<\/strong> (7-1) at Wilson (0-7) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Covina 36-16 <\/strong><\/p>\n

If there was any question as to who the number one team in the Mid-Valley was before last week there isn\u2019t now. Covina\u2019s dominating win over San Dimas put all the doubts to rest.<\/p>\n

Wilson is a team that is hard to figure out. The Wildcats seem to have talent but they haven\u2019t been able to put it together. A quick look at the remaining schedule tells you Wilson is staring down the barrel of a 0-10 season. Covina wins handily.<\/p>\n
