{"id":19569,"date":"2011-10-29T01:46:25","date_gmt":"2011-10-29T08:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=19569"},"modified":"2011-10-29T22:13:22","modified_gmt":"2011-10-30T05:13:22","slug":"alhambra-7-montebello-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=19569","title":{"rendered":"Alhambra Slips by Montebello"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_19701\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19701\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19701\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ALHAMBRA-AND-PASA-GMS-10-22-11-008-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-19701\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alhambra Quarterback Josh Mendoza threw the game winner with seconds left <\/p><\/div>\n<p>By George Hernandez<\/p>\n<p>(Montebello)- Josh Mendoza threw a 5-yard touchdown pass with five seconds left on the fourth quarter clock to give Alhambra a 7-6 win over Montebello Friday night at Montebello High School.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Oilers looked good on their first possession when they drove the ball down field into the red zone but came up with nothing after a missed field goal.<\/p>\n<p>Another Montebello drive midway though the second quarter gave the Oilers a\u00a03-0 lead when Edgar Tafoya hit a 30-yard field goal.<\/p>\n<p>A fumble recovery gave the ball back to the Oilers and they were able to get another field goal just before half.<\/p>\n<p>The teams mostly exchanged punts to the second half. A Joseph Nieto interception put the Moors on the 7-yard line but they weren&#8217;t able to cash it in and missed a field goal of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Alhambra with just under a minute left on the clock, on fourth and 14 Mendoza hit Ezra Broadus with a 23-yard pass to keep the drive alive.<\/p>\n<p>On the next play Montebello was charged with\u00a0a personal foul after hitting Mendoza when he was out of bounds.
