In the case of Diamond Bar versus Bonita, neither side would give an inch.<\/p><\/div>\n

(La Verne)- Bearcat running back Cameron Griffin rushed for 136 yards and scores twice, including the game winning touchdown in overtime to beat Diamond Bar, 27-20, at Glenn Davis Stadium Friday night.<\/p>\n

Bonita (5-4, 3-2) scored late in the second quarter thanks to Aaron Burgett connecting with Austin Venegas for a 21-yard pass just before halftime.<\/p>\n

At halftime the Bearcats had a 13-7 edge over Diamond Bar (4-5, 3-2).<\/p>\n

The Brahmas were able to draw blood first in the third quarter, when running back Austin Ski scored from 48-yards out.<\/p>\n

DB\u2019s defense was able to shut out the Bearcats offense in the third and went into the fourth with a small 14-13 lead.<\/p>\n

On Bonita\u2019s first play of its first drive in the fourth, running back Cameron Griffin ran away from the Brahmas defense to score a 47 yard run, putting the Bearcats up again 20-13.<\/p>\n

Diamond Bar answered right back. They gave the ball to Ski and he was able to run to paydirt before regulation ended. But Bonita\u2019s special teams were able to slip through the line and block the PAT.<\/p>\n

DB had an opportunity to kick for three with less than one minute left in the fourth. But once again the Bearcat\u2019s special teams were able to slip though again and block the field goal.<\/p>\n

At the end of regulation the score was 20-20, and the Bearcat\u2019s had all the momentum.<\/p>\n

They won the coin flip, and chose to get the ball first in the series of the overtime. Bonita only needed five plays to punch it in. Griffin scored a six yard touchdown run putting them up 27-20.<\/p>\n

The Brahmas offense struggled to move the ball on their series. Bonita\u2019s Jason Sanez\u2019 sack on third down proved fatal and they fell short.<\/p>\n

The football gods were watching over the Bearcat\u2019s as regulation came to an end.<\/p>\n

\u201cOvertime was a prayer come true, I thought we were in deep trouble down there,\u201d Bearcat HC Eric Podley said. \u201cOur defense stepped up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diamond Bar looks to even their league record when they play at Los Altos next week. For Bonita, they take a trip to Rowland Heights and play Rowland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
