{"id":21507,"date":"2012-01-05T18:01:16","date_gmt":"2012-01-06T01:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=21507"},"modified":"2012-06-29T15:08:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-29T22:08:16","slug":"cedric-ho-goes-to-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=21507","title":{"rendered":"Cedric Ho Goes to France"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_21508\" style=\"width: 526px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/DSC_0229.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21508\" class=\"size-large wp-image-21508  \" title=\"DSC_0229\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/DSC_0229-818x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"516\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21508\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cedric Ho<\/p><\/div>\n<p>(San Gabriel)- San Gabriel alum Cedric Ho, who finished his college career at the University of LaVerne this fall, has signed a one-contract to play American football professionally for the Nice Dauphines in southern France.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ho will leave for France in February to begin workouts and play a 14 game regular season that will extend into August with playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be playing wide receiver and returning kick-offs,\u201d said Ho while being interviewed in the football office at San Gabriel High School. \u201cThey asked me if I could play some third string defense and I told them I haven\u2019t played defense since high school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That would be 2005 during Ho\u2019s junior year at Gabrielino. Ho transferred to San Gabriel in 2006 but was not cleared to play by CIF. He played football for two years at Dakota State before transferring back home to LaVerne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur quarterback (Thomas Arguello) made himself available to the european leagues through an internet site. They saw his highlight film and asked who the guy was he was throwing to,\u201d said Ho.<\/p>\n<p>Ho (37 catches for 458 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2011) will make approximately 1,200 Euros a month, but the team will cover all of his expenses: travel, room, board, and provide a car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy Mother lives in Paris,\u201d said Ho to indicate he won\u2019t be too far from family. He also carries dual (France\/USA) citizenship. &#8220;The weather is also pretty close what its like here in California after spending two years in South Dakota that was important to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since the end of World War II American football has been growing on the European continent with teams in France, Spain, Germany, even Finland. Germany has long been the dominant power and the championship game is called the EuroBowl.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007 John Grisham published a novel called \u201cPlaying for Pizza\u201d about a former NFL quarterback who goes to Italy to reclaim his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican football is a big deal over there,\u201d said Ho. \u201cThey get up at two in the morning to watch our Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ho is one class shy of completing work on his B.A. and expects to be taking the class online while oversees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited, I wasn\u2019t sure what I was going to be doing next season. Coaching maybe, maybe helping out here (San Gabriel).
