Its 3:55 Pacific Time so let me say this now: \u201cOh, I have always been a Detroit Lions fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

I hope Ellis McCarthy has 30 tackles and records 10 sacks in every game he plays for the Cal Golden Bears\u2026And I hope he plays 15 years in the NFL and goes to the Hall of Fame\u2026but I hope Cal gets its butt kicked by USC, UCLA, Washington State, Utah, and Stanford every year\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m just not a Golden Bear guy\u2026<\/p>\n

On the other side may Kevon Seymour get four national title rings while at USC\u2026He\u2019s going to want to get four because the NCAA will find some reason to ignore every other felony in Division I football but steal two of those titles from the Trojans for providing ice to players in the off season on days that it rains.<\/p>\n

Are you ready to buy into the Clippers yet? People keep telling me I\u2019ve got to believe and I keep telling them I can\u2019t, I can\u2019t. Facebook question came to me this week.<\/p>\n

FB: Do you get upset when coaches or players don\u2019t tip you off about a move or transfer or something.<\/p>\n

Joe T.: No.<\/p>\n

FB: Do you consider coaches friends.<\/p>\n

Joe T.: You have to be very careful who you call a friend. I don\u2019t want to hurt any feelings, but were friends only in the sense that we interact about football. If one of them asked me to help them move, I\u2019d say no. (I don\u2019t ever help anyone move—ask Bad News & Peterson) In the last 14 years I\u2019ve only had one \u201cfriend\u201d type of interaction with a coach where we spent a lot of time together and we weren\u2019t talking about his team, newspaper, or website. Make that two. Honestly, I\u2019m not interested in being anyone\u2019s friend. I\u2019ve got friends. The coaches have friends and are not really interested in making new friends.<\/p>\n

The conversation ended there.<\/p>\n

I know that might sound a little cold, but as long as I have a camera and a website I\u2019m always going to be looked at with suspicion. I don\u2019t necessarily like it but it is what it is.<\/p>\n

I enjoy writing about the competition, the growth, success, and maturation of the young people involved, I enjoy researching the history, but I have no interest in spending too much time around people who feel (and rightly so) they have to have always be on guard when I am there.<\/p>\n
